Alaant Director of Human Resources in Johnstown, New York

Alaant is excited to recruit a Director of Human Resources for our client's established manufacturing team in Johnstown, NY.

As the Director of Human Resources, you will be a key executive team member, reporting directly to the CEO. This role is responsible for advancing the organization's strategic goals by optimizing its human resources, staff development, and culture management functions in support of the organization's overall business plan and strategic direction. The Director of Human Resources will oversee all aspects of human resources, including regulatory compliance, benefits and compensation, talent acquisition, employee relations, and daily operations. This position is functional and strategic, requiring the individual to perform day-to-day HR activities while providing support and input on strategic initiatives.

Benefits for the Director of Human Resources:

  • The salary range is between $120,000 - $140,000.

Key Responsibilities for the Director of Human Resources:

Strategic Human Resource Management:

  • Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with the overall business strategy.

  • Provide strategic counsel and guidance to the executive team on HR matters.

  • Design and execute initiatives to improve employee engagement and organizational culture.

  • Use relevant, value-added workforce metrics, analyses, and reports to influence organizational decision-making.

Regulatory and Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.

  • Oversee and manage investigations related to HR compliance issues.

  • Maintain and update HR policies and procedures to reflect regulatory changes.

Benefits and Compensation:

  • Design, implement, and manage competitive compensation and benefits programs.

  • Conduct regular benchmarking to ensure compensation packages remain competitive.

  • Oversee employee benefits administration, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other perks.

Talent Acquisition:

  • Develop and execute effective recruiting strategies to attract top talent.

  • Manage the entire recruitment lifecycle from job posting to onboarding.

  • Partner with department heads to understand their hiring needs and ensure timely placement of qualified candidates.

Employee Relations:

  • Foster a positive work environment through effective employee relations strategies.

  • Address employee concerns and grievances promptly and effectively.

  • Implement programs to enhance employee engagement and retention.

Daily Operations:

  • Handle all HR-related administrative tasks, including maintaining employee records and managing HR systems.

  • Provide support and guidance to employees on HR-related issues.

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive performance-based feedback, compensation, and recognition program that balances organizational resources with the need to maintain the organization's competitive position in the marketplace.

  • Lead and manage employee performance appraisal processes.

Qualifications for the Director of Human Resources:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field; Master's degree preferred.

  • PHR, SPHR, or SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification is highly desirable.

  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive HR experience, management experience, and at least 2 years in a leadership role.

  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.

  • Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Proficient in HRIS and Microsoft Office Suite.
