Position Summary

Serves as an advisor to the organization on legal matters to protect the company against legal liability. Analyzes proposed and established legislation, prepares legal documents, and ensures company policies are compliant with applicable laws.

Major Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Provides guidance and makes recommendations on employment law issues, including hiring, discipline, terminations, accommodations, unemployment, and employee pay and benefits.

  • Evaluates and responds to EEOC and other agency discrimination charges and employment-related complaints.

  • Creates and delivers training programs for HR professionals on trends, recent developments, and noteworthy employment issues impacting the workplace.

  • Handles various aspects of employment-related litigation, such as gathering internal information for regulatory and litigation discovery requests.

  • Drafts, prepares, and reviews claims, contracts, and other documentation.

  • Manages affirmative action planning, including ensuring compliance with state and federal non-discrimination laws and regulations.

  • Drafts, modifies, administers, and enforces company policies, including creating strategies for monitoring and preventing employment and labor law violations.

  • Reviews and provides advice on employee communications, HR policies and procedures, and related legislation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor degree.

  • 3+ years of experience working in employment and labor law.

  • Prior experience implementing and managing affirmative action plans.

  • Solid understanding of risk and compliance principles and frameworks.
