Under the general supervision of the Director of Industrial Engineering, the Equipment Analytics Manager is in charge of supporting the equipment pool integrity and maintaining equipment life cycles across the network. This position plays a critical role in equipment purchase and capital expenditures.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains life cycle records on all company equipment, including but not limited to all tractors, trailers and gears.

  • Determines equipment purchase needs, as well as the balance and turnover of equipment, based on the company’s current life cycle goals and potential growth.

  • Establishes, maintains, and adjusts all terminal equipment pools.

  • Establishes and maintains all assigned equipment to specific use and runs (i.e. line vs. city use, long vs. short mileage line runs), so that the life cycles can be maximized.

  • Determines the right routings to reposition equipment and cut cost when appropriate action must be taken to maintain proper balance of pools.

  • Ensures that underutilized equipment is redistributed to the network when business levels change for various reasons.

  • Establishes and maintains a vendor group that can offer assistance with piggy backing services, one-way trailer utilization, or relocation services to help reposition equipment.

  • Determines needs and allocation of assets based on specific location issues.

  • Performs additional duties as required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Transportation management, supply chain, or related

  • 5+ years of transportation experience with increasing responsibilities

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Access, and Word

  • Skilled with data visualization software such as Tableau and Power BI

  • Ability to manipulate data from a mainframe

  • Ability to write programs as well as balance sheets to manage the fleet

  • Ability to provide direction to terminals on fleet management issues

  • Background in effective cost control measures that ensure quality processes

  • Strong communication skills
