Requirements: * U.S. Citizen or National or be lawfully permitted to the U.S. as a permanent resident or otherwise authorized to be employed * Males born after 12/31/59 to be registered with Selective Service * Combination of education, general and specialized experience to meet GS-3 or GS-4 level ****Full details for qualifications, education and experience required available online Duties: * Moves dirt, chops brush, fells small trees, etc., to build fire line using hand tools such as axe, Pulaski, shovel and McLeod, and power saws to control spreading wildland fire. * Performs as a member of fire crew assigned to suppress the full range of difficulty and complexity of fires. * Patrols areas of controlled fires to \"mop-up\" by searching out and extinguishing any remaining burning material. * Operates specialized fire suppression equipment such as portable pumps or drip torch. * Observes, records and preserves evidence of cause of fires. * May be assigned to other resource management activities such as fuels, recreation, timber or reforestation when not performing fire suppression duties.
