This position is responsible for the on-site management of a team of technical staff and includes hands-on management, troubleshooting, design and implementation associated with ASTRO 25, WAVE VOIP and adjacent technologies for Federal, State and local government agencies requiring highly secure, easily managed, mission critical IP networks. This position reports to the on-site Sr. Mgr. Field Service Team

  • Consult with Sales, Program Manager, Sr. Field Service Team Mgr, and the SI team to set strategy, direction and implementation
  • Lead and define Operations and Maintenance activities for ASTRO 25 networks and adjacent technologies
  • Lead and define technical architecture designs for ASTRO 25 and adjacent technologies
  • Create and document detailed technical drawings, work plans, managed service offerings, MOPs and SOPs, etc. as required.
  • Continually evaluate third party vendor equipment used in our portfolio
  • Work with third party vendors/contractors to ensure delivery of requirements set forth by the design
  • Lead on-site technical staff in best practices for design, implementation, and O&M activities.
  • Network topology assessments and troubleshooting

Candidate Requirements:

  • Demonstrated in-depth understanding of MSI MS&S processes, products, and network management solutions
  • Experience with troubleshooting and assessing live networks
  • Experience with routing protocols: BGP, OSPF, ISIS and others as needed
  • Knowledge of ASTRO 25 Conventional wide-area voice and data systems including OTAR/OTAP, MoM, and cyber technologies (CAC-PIV)
  • Experience with LAN switching protocols: G8032 ring protection
  • Experience with Manufacture Hardware: Juniper, Nokia, HP, Fortinet
  • Knowledge of different media types: Metro Ethernet, Frame-Relay, Ethernet, SONET
  • Knowledge of physical layer such as: Fiber, Copper, Microwave.
  • Experience in scripting/programming is a plus.
  • Experience with Microsoft Visio, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Applications required
  • Experience with use of command line and/or GUI interfaces to provision equipment is a plus
  • Experience with Network Management Applications a plus: Solarwinds, JUNO-Space, Nokia SAM/NFM-P, Provision
  • Self motivated, excellent written and oral communication skills, and strong interpersonal skills
  • Works collaboratively and builds relationships with other colleagues, customers, and third party service professionals.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain necessary security clearance as required by government contracts
  • Must be willing to obtain a DHS Public Trust Clearance
  • The role entails providing on-premises support to our valued customers in Washington D.C.

This position is subject to working in high security areas governed by the US Department of Justice's "Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy" and therefore requires successfully passing a more stringent fingerprint background check administered by Motorola Solutions Inc. customers.

Basic Requirements
  • Bachelor's (BS) Degree in Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, OR 5+ years experience in one of the following: IP Networking, Network Engineering, Solution Architecture, ASTRO 25, WAVE VOIP, LMR, RF Systems, Radio Frequency, Radio Communications, Wired/Wireless Communication Systems, Motorola, or IT

  • Must be a U.S. citizen with ability to obtain necessary security clearance as required by government contract(s)
