JPMorgan Chase Lead Software Engineer- Public Cloud in Jersey City, New Jersey

As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within Cloud Foundational Services, you are an integral part of an agile team that works to enhance, build, and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. As a core technical contributor, you are responsible for conducting critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm's business objectives.

The Cloud Networks team is focused on accelerating cloud adoption through development of cloud native networking solutions that enable product lines and application teams to innovate in the public cloud while meeting their controls and compliance obligations. We are looking for someone who can identify opportunities to develop and improve solutions along with partnering with our stakeholders, partners and costumers to drive implementation and adoption.

Job responsibilities

  • Executes creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems

  • Develops secure high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others

  • Contributes actively to the engineering community as an advocate of firmwide frameworks, tools, and practices of the Software Development Life Cycle

  • Lead the development of cloud networking offerings, ensuring that they are secure, scalable, and reliable

  • Collaborate with other cloud platform engineering teams to enable the delivery of high-quality, secure, and scalable applications on the cloud

  • Stays up-to-date with the latest advancements in cloud technologies and bring in recommendations for adoption and implementation of new tools/technologies

  • Identifies opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systems

  • Leads evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to drive outcomes-oriented probing of architectural designs, technical credentials, and applicability for use within existing systems and information architecture

  • Leads communities of practice across Software Engineering to drive awareness and use of new and leading-edge technologies

  • Adds to team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience

  • Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability

  • Advanced in Bash, GIT, Python

  • Intermediate experience with Go

  • Intermediate experience with Kubernetes

  • Beginner or intermediate experience with Terraform

  • Beginner or Intermediate experience with Public Clouds such as AWS, Azure and Google.

  • Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability

  • Proficiency in automation and continuous delivery methods

  • Proficient in all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle

  • Practical cloud native experience

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Certifications in target areas: AWS, Terraform and Kubernetes are desirable

  • Working knowledge of IP networking, Routing, and DNS is preferred

  • In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and their IT systems

  • Advanced understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security

  • Demonstrated proficiency in software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.)
