Robert Half Staff Accountant in Jericho, New York

Description

As a Staff Accountant, you will be an integral part of a growing finance team, responsible for assisting in various accounting tasks to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with regulatory requirements. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with strong analytical skills and a solid understanding of accounting principles.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts on a monthly basis. Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data.

  • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles). Analyze financial data and provide insights to management as needed.

  • Process accounts payable invoices, verify accuracy, and ensure timely payments. Monitor accounts receivable, follow up on outstanding invoices, and facilitate collections efforts.

  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy of cash balances and identify any discrepancies. Investigate and resolve reconciling items in a timely manner.

  • Review and reconcile employee expense reports, ensuring compliance with company policies and proper documentation.

  • Conduct variance analysis and trend analysis to identify potential areas of improvement or risk. Assist in preparing ad hoc financial reports and analyses as requested.

  • Assist in maintaining internal control procedures to safeguard company assets and ensure adherence to financial policies and procedures.

    Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.

  • 1-3 years of relevant accounting experience preferred.

  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting standards (GAAP).

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, or similar).

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple deadlines effectively.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
