Jay Peak Resort Ski and Ride School Desk Agent in Jay, Vermont

The Ski and Ride School Desk Agent position has a wide range of responsibilities. At its core the position helps people understand and purchase the correct SRS product and also welcomes and checks in guests with pre-booked reservations. The position also serves as a customer service agent and sells lift tickets and helps guests with general resort questions. The Ski and Ride School Desk Agents are the front line of the school and often the first SRS employee the guests interacts with and therefore they play a key role in the school and the resort.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (include the following, other duties may be assigned)

  • First and foremost the agents are responsible for managing payments with cash, check, credit card, gift certificates, promotions, snowchecks, Canadian currency, and more, and keeping this all accurate and accountable with detailed tracking and cash-outs  

  • Agents need a thorough understanding of the pricing, purpose, and target audience for all the of the SRS products and a general understanding of the resort’s offerings and events

  • As the front-line of the school, these agents welcome guests to Jay Peak, the Ski & Ride School and help them understand how to have the best experience while visiting our resort.

  • Agents check pre-registered guests into our programs and make sure they understand the particular process of the experience they booked into

  • They work to understand what each guest is looking for and based on their age, ability level, length of stay, budget, and over goals, book them into the appropriate SRS experience

  • Desk agents book people into day-of and advanced reservations for ski & ride school being sure to include all the important information as to ensure a successful experience for the guest and staff

  • Desk agents also need to ensure all SRS participants are reading and signing our Assumption or Risk form

  • Desk agents are also responsible for the tracking and managing of the Foundations Program lift tickets and payments for the students, chaperones, and schools

  • As well as representing the school our desk agents also serve as customer service agents and, along with helping guest navigate the resort and its offerings, they sell retail and discounted lift tickets as well as vend tickets purchased through outside vendors.

  • SRS agents understand and sell guests ski and snowboard rental products as well

  • Agents also help with general tasks in the school such as, but not limited to, helping the supervisors and managers with: reporting; tracking; payroll; and distribution of items such as: paychecks; fobs; jackets; and name tags.

  • SRS Desk agents serve as the central point for information gathering and sharing to both staff and guests and need to be aware of what is happening, not only in the school, but on the mountain with: lift and trail openings and closing; trail conditions; weather forecasts; and around the resort with: special events; restaurant schedules; and specific information for groups sold through the group sales office. 

    COMPUTER SKILLS

    An intermediate level of computer skills is needed. The job requires a very good understanding of a few programs to book and look up reservations(Sirus, Intopia, Flaik). Also a basic understanding of MS Word and Excel is needed.

    OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

    High levels of interpersonal skills and empathy are required as the job mostly involves talking to guests and staff. Also important to the position is the ability to work in a fast paced environment and stay calm and focused on creating positive guest experiences.
