Jay Peak Resort Housekeeping Support Manager in Jay, Vermont

SUMMARY

The Housekeeping Support Manager is responsible for directing operations in multiple locations to include the Tram Haus Lodge & Condo Housekeeping in a manner that ensures all lodging guests are provided a clean, attractive, secure place to stay with professional, friendly and attentive service.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (include the following, other duties may be assigned)

  • Provides leadership, guidance, monitoring and evaluations as necessary to ensure Jay Peak cleanliness brand standards are followed and that each & every type of accommodation used by a guest at the Tram Haus Lodge is properly cleaned and inspected prior to being inhabited.

  • Recruits, interviews, hires, orients and trains new attendants and utility cleaning staff, as well as update the training of existing staff members.

  • Conducts evaluations of staff members as needed & provides ongoing training regarding the practice of safe work habits.

  • Prepares and monitors work schedules for Tram Haus Lodge housekeeping operations, monitors daily labor standards & budget calculations to ensure housekeeping standards are met and labor budgets are on target.

  • Takes regular monthly inventories of linen, cleaning chemicals, small wares and other supplies as needed.

  • Prepares weekly orders - ensuring housekeeping supplies are consistently in inventory to meet the needs of the business & ensures that budgeted expense goals are met though proper usage and control of those items.

  • Maintains housekeeping staff timecards and uniform maintenance agreements for all Tram Haus Lodge Housekeeping team members/

  • Develops & maintains positive working relationships with other departments to reach common goals; listens and responds appropriately to the concerns of other employees.

  • Speaks to others using clear and professional language; prepares & reviews written documents accurately and completely.

  • Maintains security for guests and property by ensuring that room doors are locked at all times, keys are controlled, lost and found articles are properly logged and securely stored & observes all security and safety regulations.

  • Cleans rooms & condos when occupancy of units does not provide sufficient hours for management, or when the required numbers of attendants are not available to do their jobs.

  • Prepares daily paperwork and keeps an ongoing communication log to ensure accurate status of all rooms and explains any discrepancies in rooms rented versus cleaned.

  • Inspects and evaluates the physical condition of establishment. Inspect personally or with the assistance of inspectors/supervisors all vacant and clean rooms on a regular basis.

  • Reports room maintenance problems by completing work orders and follows up on all maintenance work in rooms to ensure any post-maintenance cleaning is addressed.

  • Acts in the capacity of the Condo Housekeeping Manager, on the Condo Housekeeping Manager’s days off to ensure condo housekeeping operations meet expectations and work is completed as required.

  • Must be eligible to drive a company vehicle – filling in as a condo delivery driver or condo housekeeping manager when business levels require extra assistance.

  • Follows all company safety and security policies & procedures; report any safety hazards, accidents or injuries and complete safety training and certifications.

  • Provides periodic feedback regarding communication, operations, training & goals of the department for evaluation.

  • Attends periodic meetings to include, housekeeping managers meetings, resort staff meetings and safety meetings.

  • Offers guidance to team members thought periodic stand-up meetings and organizes bi-weekly housekeeping supervisor meetings.

  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor, which could be directly related, or unrelated to original position.

    SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

  • Must hold a valid State of VT driver's license and be eligible for enrollment as a driver on Jay Peak Resort's Commercial Automobile Policy. 

  • Ability to provide excellent customer service to our guests .

  • Ability to handle more than one task, simultaneously in a calm manner. 

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

    Directly supervises up to 5-80 employees and 6 subordinate supervisors in the Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities, in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include, training employees; planning work day, and directing work load; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Reporting to Manager any serious employee problems.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

One year certificate from college or technical school; or 12-18 months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. The ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. If not sure governmental regulations, seeks information from manager or the human resource department.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

COMPUTER SKILLS

To perform this position successfully, an individual should have knowledge of internet software; Microsoft Office Suite to include Microsoft Word & Excel. Maestro knowledge is preferred but not required.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and outdoor weather conditions.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

RESORT CONDITIONS

This is a Winter Resort Area. It requires that work venues are varied, and in many cases include steep stairways, multi-level buildings and outdoor work areas, subject to very cold, sometimes wet or very sunny work sites. Some facilities are located at the base or bottom area and some are semi-remote and can only be reached by traveling via chair lift(s), skis or snowboards. Walking surfaces are frequently frozen, sloped and slippery. Proper footwear is a must, indoors and out. Work days and hours, as well as the number of hours required will vary, with an emphasis on weekends and holidays.
