Jay Peak Resort Cafe Busser - Winter 24/25 in Jay, Vermont

PART-TIME or FULL-TIME | SEASONAL POSITIONS AVAILABLE

The Busser is attentive to customers in the dining room to provide the best service possible. This position maintains cleanliness and organization of café seating areas and its guests/staff by performing the following essential duties and responsibilities.

*This is a seasonal position with a start date in early December. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (include the following, other duties may be assigned)

  • Prepares for guests by cleaning and sanitizing tables.

  • Removes guests’ dirty trays and trash that may be left behind as needed.

  • Delivers used trays to the kitchen for cleaning.

  • Assists dishwashers to scrape, stack or load dishes into the dishwasher when necessary.

  • Vacuums, sweeps or mops café service area.

  • Removes trash/recycling and replaces trash bags.

  • Cleans up dining area spills as needed.

  • Follows and maintains all sanitation and safety procedures as described by the JPR EverClean program.

  • When café service area is in compliance, may assist in duties such as filling ice for soda and general cleanliness of service area for proper sanitation.

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

    This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.     EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

    Less than high school education; or up to one month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    LANGUAGE SKILLS

    Ability to read a limited number of two and three syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

    Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10s and 100s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance.

    REASONING ABILITY

    Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one or two step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.

    OTHER SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Must be able to move and clean quickly in a fast-paced environment.

  • Must possess a friendly, outgoing, polite and courteous demeanor with all patrons.

  • Must work well as part of a team and on individual tasks.

  • Must possess excellent verbal communication skills.

  • Must work well and efficiently under pressure.

  • Must be available to work weekends and fill in as needed.

    Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.

    While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles.

    The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

    RESORT CONDITIONS

    This is a Winter Resort Area. It requires that work venues are varied, and in many cases include steep stairways, multi-level buildings and outdoor work areas, subject to very cold, sometimes wet or very sunny work sites. Some facilities are located at the base or bottom area and some are semi-remote and can only be reached by traveling via chair lift(s), skis or snowboards. Walking surfaces are frequently frozen, sloped and slippery. Proper footwear is a must, indoors and out. Work days and hours, as well as the number of hours required will vary, with an emphasis on weekends and holidays
