Aerotek Quality Inspector - Start Immediately in Janesville, Wisconsin

Job Title: Quality Inspector

Job Description

We are a metal manufacturer that produces 80% of parts for the Auto industry. As a tier 2 supplier, we manufacture parts that go to another factory and then to major auto companies like Ford and GM. They also produce parts for Sub Zero, which makes high-end kitchen appliances. We are looking to expand into Government and Military sectors, which will become the primary industry focus.

The Quality Inspector will assist with sorting and quality work on the production floor to help the quality team catch up.

  1. Will notify internal departments immediately of emerging and trending production issues.

  2. Provide support on dispositioning products. Disposition of parts from the suspect list.

  3. Support corrective action processes. Setting up 3 rd party sorting at customer facility, RMA part analysis, suspecting internal inventory, developing quality alerts, etc.

  4. Conduct layered process audits.

  5. Will notify external peers after Quality consultation of emerging production issues with a high probability of affecting them.

  6. Works closely with Engineering, Quality Systems and Production staff to overcome inconsistent quality.

  7. Provide and analyze data from customers internal and external.

  8. Aid in scrap management.

  9. Provide support for Engineering and Quality by conducting studies, gathering data, and measuring parts with using mini-tab and other statistical software

  10. Conduct training for operations as required. Provide training and support for floor personnel in the use of quality measuring equipment.

  11. Perform dimensional inspections of products and components for conformity to applicable specifications and drawings (Final Audits, Annual Layouts, Prototypes, etc.)

  12. Assist with monthly gage calibrations, cleanings, and repairs.

  13. Set up and use a variety of precision measuring instruments, test and gaging equipment.

  14. Ability to perform basic programming and troubleshooting on the CMM. Conduct process audits for compliance with engineering documents, prints and work instructions.

  15. Assist in supplier development activities which can include incoming inspection, preparing reports, reviewing first article submission documentation, reviewing supplier self-appraisal forms and maintaining records.

  16. Material Declarations.

  17. Supports, promotes and performs in a manner consistent with continuous improvement goals and values which includes following the policies, procedures, and requirements of our Quality Management and IS0 14001 Environmental Management Systems.

  18. Individuals directed by management to operate a vehicle for work purposes will observe the requirements of the Fleet Safety Program.

All other duties as assigned by your supervisor.

Job Type

This is a Contract-to-Hire position with a duration of 90 Day(s).

Work Site

This is a fully on-site position in Janesville, Wisconsin.

Work Environment

1st Shift - 6:25am-2:30pm. Overtime: Hours could be anywhere from 40 hours/week to working every other Saturday. The facility is very large with around 700 employees in a 400,000 sq. ft. space. The environment is loud and dirty. Dress code includes steel-toe shoes, jeans, and a t-shirt with no rips or holes.
