Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer
Job Description
As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will provide technical support related to specific products and production lines. You will share ownership of product performance and production line efficiencies, ensuring smooth and efficient operations.
Responsibilities
Understand the product and its intended operation (form, fit, and function).
Assist production, maintenance, and quality in the debug of production processes.
Prepare and revise Process Flow Diagrams, Operation Sheets, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Monitor and analyze production processes to improve performance, efficiency, and reject rates.
Support resolution of technical issues and report on current technical issues and status during weekly meetings or management reviews.
Lead Failure Analysis efforts related to production issues, performance issues, and critical characteristics.
Generate Requests for Process Change forms and manage them through the approval process.
Generate Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) and Requests for Variation (RFVs) as needed.
Act as the main internal technical point of contact for assigned programs.
Support Configuration Control of the Technical Data Packages associated with the products produced.
Define process control (including SPC) requirements for production processes.
Participate in risk assessment for production operations.
Participate in Build Readiness Reviews (BRRs), Test Readiness Reviews (TRRs), and Production Readiness Reviews (PRRs).
Participate in line set-up including layout, flow, equipment, storage, etc.
Request and issue SWO numbers.
Build and analyze test samples to understand design margin and/or variation in product performance.
Create and lead Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) for assigned programs.
Build pre-FAAT and/or pilot and/or engineering test samples.
Support customer technical requests and questions; provide resultant effects to production processes and performance.
Support and assist Quality and Purchasing in resolution of supplier issues.
Essential Skills
5+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, continuous improvement, and process engineering.
Proven track record of taking ownership of production lines and driving change.
Experience with ISO 9001 standards, defense industry, and Department of Defense (DoD) requirements.
Hands-on experience with automated manufacturing processes, including automated assembly cells.
Experience in light/high volume assembly processes.
Familiarity with PFMEA (Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis).
Strong understanding of planned solutions for production rates, scrap, rejects, labor efficiencies, machine faults, etc.
Proficiency with tools such as Minitab and lean manufacturing principles.
Ability to work in a fast-paced and fluid environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Relevant experience is key; a four-year degree is not necessary.
Ambitious and able to think quickly on their feet.
Enjoys being hands-on and interacting with operators.
Work Environment
You will be working in a clean and dynamic environment with a team-oriented culture. The schedule includes a normal workday from 7am-5pm with an hour lunch, and a unique 80/20 schedule where you work four nine-hour days and an eight-hour day on alternating Fridays. You will have every other Friday off and can enjoy flexible hours within an hour each way, provided consistency. Each ME typically oversees two production lines, balancing high volume/high priority lines with lower volume lines. Additionally, the company offers tuition reimbursement and opportunities for growth as the team expands.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $75000.00 - $105000.00/yr.
