AMTEC CORPORATION Design Project Engineer in JANESVILLE, Wisconsin
JOB REQUIREMENTS: Position Description/Summary: The Project Engineer is responsible for supporting the development, production, and testing of our ammunition programs. This Engineer oversees execution of projects for development, qualification, and production transition of new and upgraded fuze and ammunition products. Integration of proven new technologies can increase the utility and reliability, expand the available mission set, and extend the production life of our products, which are some of the most widely fielded explosive ammunition products available in the world today. Essential Job Functions: Work with the Advanced Programs team in support of the execution of ammunition research and development programs Design new products, including components, subassemblies, and assemblies, to support the evolving requirements of the warfighter, including design for producibility/affordability Assembly and component analysis to support design requirements through hand calculations, tolerance stackup analysis, and engineering simulation such as Finite Element Analysis Assemble and test prototypes both in a lab and ballistic setting Plan projects and phasing, track task completion, and coordinate functional and subcontracted support teams to drive execution of analyze-design-test-validate cycles for product development and qualification Develop and present subsystem and system technical design reviews All other duties as assigned Candidate will work under limited supervision while exercising responsibility in meeting the technical, financial, and schedule objectives of projects. As a Design / Development Engineer, decisions are data driven in nature and require preparing technical justification and reports to a variety of management reviewers Must be able to obtain BATFE (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives) approval. Due to the nature of the work performed within our facilities, U.S. Citizenship is required. ***** OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: Work Experience: 5-10 years\' experience in product engineering / product design. Defense / Ammunition industry, specifically work on US Government development programs is preferred. Knowledge and Skills: Citizen of the United States (ITAR restrictions) Four-year college degree in Engineering, with a preference in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Materials Science; related science and engineering degrees will be considered Understanding of internal and external ballistics and lethal mechanisms is a plus Proficiency in solid modeling and detail drawing creation in CAD with understanding of GD&T standards. (SolidWorks preferred) Experience/proficiency with mechanical design and analysis tools (FEA, etc.) Strong understanding of safety protocols and regulations to ensure a safe and compliant working environment Ability to collaborate with peers, supervisory employees, and Customers as needed Ability to multi-task in support of end-result/goal Excellent organization skills including project management Ability to set and establish priorities Communicate and document effectively in English Must have strong oral and written communication skills, strong organizational abilities, the ability to take initiative, meet deadlines, and work in a team environment Experience with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint (MS Project a plus) Additional Information and Position Specific Requirements AMTEC Corporation offers a great work environment, professional development, challenging careers, and competitive compensation.
