UPMC Phlebotomist in Jamestown, New York

Join the UPMC Chautauqua team as a Casual Phlebotomist and make a difference in patient care! This exciting role offers variable daylight hours, with the potential for weekend and holiday shifts. In this role, there is the opportunity to -

  • Interact with laboratory customers courteously and professionally, responding to inquiries promptly.

  • Procure blood specimens using venipuncture, heelstick, and fingerstick, following patient identification procedures.

  • Instruct patients on proper collection methods for laboratory specimens, ensuring correct sample acquisition.

  • Demonstrate dependability and independent judgment, recognizing priorities and adapting to department needs.

  • Transport specimens from on- and off-site locations to the laboratory, adhering to safety procedures.

  • Adhere to established hospital and laboratory policies, including quality control, safety, and isolation precautions.

  • Perform clerical tasks, entering demographic information and test data into the information system accurately.

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent

Preferred

  • Certification from an accredited Phlebotomy or Medical Assistant program

  • Experience performing phlebotomy

  • Medical terminology knowledge and laboratory information system experience

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

Phlebotomy Technician (PBT(ASCP)) or equivalent certification preferred.
