We cannot accept cash. VACANCIES: This exam is being held for future vacancies in the City of Jamestown. DUTIES: The deputy Fire Chief is an important supervisory position involving responsibility for directing municipal firefighting and fire prevention activities. The Deputy Fire Chief renders necessary assistance and service to persons and property in case of emergencies arid accidents. The work is performed in accordance with policies, procedures and objectives established. An incumbent is allowed considerable leeway for the exercise of independent judgment in the scheduling and assignment of personnel and the coordination of fire- fighting activities. Supervision is exercised over Firefighters and Fire Officers. The incumbent does related work as required. MUNICIPAL CANDIDATES PLEASE NOTE: Participation in this examination will only afford promotional eligibility within your current agency as long as you have obtained the required number of years of Permanent Competitive Class status in the required title within the current agency. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: One year of full-time, permanent status as a Battalion Chief. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS FOR QUALIFICATION AND PERMANENT APPOINTMENT: 1) Possess at time of appointment the National Certification as a Fire Officer 3, pursuant to National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1021 Standard for Fire Officer Professional Qualifications and maintain fitness standards in compliance with OSHA 29 CFR 1910.134 Respiratory Protection Standard, 29 CFR 1910.156 Fire Brigade Standard and any established by the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ). 2) Must possess a drivers license issued by the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles at time of appointment and during service in this classification.
