Training Specialist Sr Advisor - Trainer, AEGIS AN/SPY-1 Radar

Our work depends on a Training Specialist joining our team to deliver complex technical and tactical training to sailors enrolled in courses taught at Surface Combat Systems Training Command - Detachment, Mayport, FL.

HOW A TRAINING SPECIALIST WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:

● Instructs and trains US Navy ships’ Combat Information Center watch standers in all facets of Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD), Ballistic Missile Defense, and anti-Surface Warfare (ASUW). Trains and instructs students attending Advanced Warfighter Training IAMD courses. Conducts SPY, Navigation and Embedded Training Systems (ETS) Ship’s Assessment and Groom Training (SAGT). Instructs the Radar Set Controller (RSC)-Enhanced course of instruction. Instructs ship’s technicians in all aspects of preventive maintenance system (PMS).

● Teaches and instructs in accordance with Standard Shipboard Operating Principles and Procedures (SSOPP). Enforces procedural compliance in accordance with Combat Systems Operational Sequencing System (CSOSS).

● Prepares lesson plans, researches current Air defense, Surface defense, and Ballistic Missile defense (BMD) Tactics, Techniques and Procedures. Teaches classes, holds remedial sessions as necessary, and mentors other contractor and military instructors. Develops and delivers training programs to train all levels of naval personnel in IAMD, SUW, and BMD. Develops tests, conducts training classes, and develops criteria for evaluating effectiveness of training activities. Creates personalized instructor guides/teaching outlines in conformance with selected instructional methods, utilizing knowledge of specified training needs and effectiveness of training methods. Conducts shipboard training scenarios and trains personnel in assigned watch station roles and responsibilities.

● Supports the Surface Combat Systems Training Command (SCSTC) detachment Southeast in the successful completion of Advanced Warfighter Training (AWT) for AEGIS class ships in Mayport, FL and other Fleet Concentration Areas as required. Applies the BMD Certification Instruction (CNSF 8820.2 series) in all training environments.

● Develops advanced training solutions to complex problems which require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity. Applies advanced knowledge and use of modern instructional methods and materials. Participates in AWT IAMD (phases 1-3) course curriculum development projects as required.

● Provides advanced knowledge in identifying training needs and recommends advanced training solutions by working with military and government stakeholders. Provides advanced knowledge and guidance on the structure and improvements of the on-site and/or in-house training classes, seminars, self-study, lectures, demonstrations, simulation exercises and discussion groups for customers and/or employees. Maintains current knowledge of relevant and highly advanced training trends and technology.

● Mentors and coaches less-experienced trainers. May serve as a team or task leader. (Not a people manager)

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

● AN/SPY-1D or D(V) Radar Technician with 10+ years’ experience on AEGIS class cruisers/destroyers. Qualifications must include Radar Set Controller (RSC) operator and Master Training Specialist. Combat Systems Coordinator (CSC) watch station qualification is a plus. AEGIS Baseline 9 experience is a plus. Familiarity with the Combined IAMD and ASW Trainer (CIAT) is a plus.

The likely salary range for this position is $92,331 - $106,260. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
