Job Title: General Machinist
Job Description
We are seeking an experienced General Machinist III to join our team. This role offers the opportunity to work in a temperature-controlled machine shop, setting up and operating a variety of machines including conventional, special-purpose, and CNC machines such as mills, lathes, chuckers, and honing machines. The machinist will produce metal parts to very close tolerances and exacting dimensions and perform complex manual operations. This position requires interpreting complicated blueprints, sketches, and specifications, and solving problems related to work holding arrangements, unusual materials, machine settings, tools, product specifications, and fabrication methods.
Responsibilities
Set up and operate conventional, special-purpose, and CNC machines such as mills, lathes, chuckers, and honing machines.
Perform complex manual operations including trimming parts, polishing surfaces, and bending metal parts to exact tolerances.
Perform turning, boring, threading, and facing on sheet metal pieces, castings, forgings, bar, and plate stock.
Interpret complicated blueprints, sketches, specifications, and geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
Solve problems related to work holding arrangements, unusual materials, machine settings, tools, product specifications, and fabrication methods.
Determine sequence of operations, number of cuts required, and method of setup.
Select, mount, and align various specialized machine attachments and standard or improvised tooling.
Measure, mark, and scribe dimensions and reference points on material or work pieces as guides.
Calculate and set controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth/angle of cut, or enter commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media.
Use a variety of machinist hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
Perform first piece OAP inspection and verify quality in accordance with SOP.
Follow all safety regulations and exercise care in handling parts and operating machinery.
Participate in cell or fabrication projects and assist with process improvements, methods, solutions, and procedures to enhance program quality, cost, and scheduling.
Essential Skills
Knowledge of elementary geometry, algebra, and trigonometric principles.
Ability to measure and read various types of precision measuring instruments, complicated drawings, specifications, charts, and tables.
Capability to make minor modifications to NC/CNC equipment programs.
Proficiency in using personal computers to input and retrieve data.
3+ years of experience in a similar role.
Experience with Haas Mills and Tsugami Horizontal Milling Centers.
Familiarity with FANUC Controls, first article inspection, and program check-out.
Understanding of tooling and various types of end mills, drills, and slab mills.
Basic ability to read g-code and calculate radius changes.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required.
Preferred candidates will have 2 years of technical or vocational schooling.
Experience with CNC setup, vertical/horizontal mills, and manual Bridgeport mill/lathe.
Experience with precision measurement and quality control.

Work Environment
Work in a very organized and clean machine shop with good lighting and a climate-controlled facility. The dress code includes closed-toed shoes, long pants, and t-shirts (nothing vulgar). Safety requirements include steel-toed boots, safety glasses, and hearing protection. The position requires working Monday to Friday with the possibility of overtime. Shifts available are 1st Shift (7am-3pm) or 2nd Shift (3pm-12am).

The pay range for this position is $38563.20 - $96054.40
