Your Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

The responsibility of this position is to provide professional nursing service in the care and treatment of patients in a comprehensive health care setting under the direct supervision of the Registered Nursing Consultant and coordination with the Registered Nurse. Participates in clinical and clerical functions. All of the following duties require accuracy, safety, positive customer and team interactions, and adherence to protocol, polices, and procedures at all times. Duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Maintains awareness of patients’ allergies.

  • Accurately documents all clinically pertinent information.

  • Administers tuberculosis screening in conjunction with Shelter Card Program.

  • Administers tuberculin skin tests (TSTs).

  • Provides Direct Observed Therapy (DOT) to patients on therapy when needed.

  • Creates and maintains patient records, reports, and forms in a timely manner.

  • Correctly documents patient’s health status.

  • Assists providers in clinic sessions, maintains medical records, interprets and implements provider’s orders/recommendations to patient, assists with patient care and follow up as appropriate.

  • Assist RN in care management of patients to include, but not limited to responding to messages on the nurse call line, prescription refill requests, and referral follow-up.

  • Ensures information and communication with patients and patient's support system are positive, accurate, and clear.

  • Takes initiative to listen and understands the views of others.

  • Administered immunizations to patients with clinic visits per protocols.

  • Provides Vaccine Information Statements (VIS) to patients and/or parents.

  • Documents vaccine administration in FLSHOTS and the medical record.

  • Vaccine accountability: prints Physical Inventory Report (PIR) and counts refrigerated vaccines with a nurse at the end of the day. Orders Varicella/MMR as needed. Uploads information from data logger.

    Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of nursing principles and techniques.

  • Knowledge of human anatomy and physiology.

  • Skill in using medical instruments or testing equipment used in providing nursing care.

  • Ability to demonstrate manual dexterity.

  • Ability to administer medications.

  • Ability to work with patients.

  • Ability to interview patients and obtain a complete medical history.

  • Ability to interpret and follow medical instructions.

  • Ability to observe patient’s symptoms and reactions to treatments.

  • Ability to communicate effectively.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

    Qualifications:

    A current Florida Nursing License in accordance with Florida Statue 464 or eligible to practice nursing in accordance with Florida Administrative Code 210-8.22 or 8.27.
