JEA Labor Relations Specialist in United States

Advise and assist management with labor relations issues, including interpreting contract provisions, employment laws and the Civil Service and Personnel Rules and Regulations and representing the organization in responding to and resolving employee and bargaining unit grievances and employee relations issues. * Negotiates or assists in negotiating collective bargaining agreements for assigned units on behalf of the organization, to include drafting memorandums of agreement or understanding. * Participates in development of strategy for labor contract negotiations, to include researching and developing contract proposals. * Participates in the administration of labor contracts for assigned units, to include interpretation of contract terms and requirements. * Advises and assists management with disciplinary action to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures. * Provides assistance and guidance with grievance and arbitration procedures and processes. * Conducts fact-finding meetings and grievance hearings. * Assists in resolution of disputes. * Stays abreast of new and proposed federal, state and local legislation applicable to labor and employee relations.

_Education_: Bachelor's degree in human resources, law, psychology or closely related field.

_Experience_: Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in the development and delivery of comprehensive human resources services at least three (3) of which were in the conduct and administration of labor relations activities and programs. Utility/public sector work experience preferred.

_License/Certifications/Registrations_: A valid driver's license is required prior to appointment and must be maintained during employment in this classification. Professional certification in Human Resources, Training, Organizational Development, or related field desired

This position requires that employees be in compliance with JEA procedure ES A0200 A0101 RS 628 Screening Personnel Risk Assessments (pre-hire for "FACTA" designations; pre-hire and recurring for "CIP" designations).

  • /The starting range for this position is $76,500 - $102,000 annually. Total compensation is commensurate with education, licenses, certifications, skills, and experience./
