Amentum Fire Protection Specialist in Jacksonville, Florida
Amentum, a global leader in critical mission support, engineering, technology, and national security solutions, is seeking a Fire Protection Specialist at Kings Bay, GA Naval Base
POSITION OVERVIEW
Perform testing, maintenance and repair of fire detection and fire suppression systems and components. Coordinate with the fire department and facility personnel to test the fire alarms. Candidate must be knowledgeable in various fire alarm manufactures understand and follow all NICET requirements for compliance to state federal and local code requirements. Have the ability to troubleshoot using a root cause mentality and understand the failure modes of the fire alarm systems and equipment. Must be able to work in a customer environment and have good communication skills.
Journeyman Level Electrician, or Electronics Technician with at least 4 years’ experience working Detection and releasing systems for special hazard systems found in ammunition magazines, special use facilities and computer server rooms including alarm and detection, notification, sprinkler monitoring, and interfaces and controls for agent releasing suppression systems (either agent or water-based systems) in any of the following roles/functions:
• Installation
• Inspection
• Testing
• Commissioning
• Technical system estimating
• Plans preparation
• Maintenance
• Low voltage systems
• Building electrical power or control systems
• Special hazards systems or
• Smoke control systems
• Code compliance review
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or GED
Four (4) year's experience with NICET Level II or III Certification in Fire Alarms
Valid State Drivers License
Maintain all other required ID as needed
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret US Government Clearance. Note: US citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance.
SKILLS/COMPETENCIES
Understanding of NFPA codes/standards and control systems associated with Fire Protection Systems
Experience and certification on Monaco, Motorola, Dectronix and other Fire Control systems
Ability to use technical manuals, technical bulletins, or manufacturer's specification while performing maintenance, troubleshooting, or corrective repairs to Fire Protection Systems and controls.
Familiarity with the interrelationships of various Fire Protection System components and judgment in planning work sequence and in selecting appropriate tools and testing instruments
Good communication skills and customer service oriented
Ability to manage projects on site in timely manner

Physical Demands:
Knowledge and ability to move job related equipment. Must be able to perform work in an industrial environment. Able to lift, push or pull a minimum of 50 lbs. General physical labor in relation to climbing, lifting, overhead work, pushing, pulling, crouching, crawling, inclement weather conditions, confined space.
