Electronic Technician Jr.

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Under supervision, uses general and special purpose test equipment, built-in test equipment, diagnostic computer programs, and technical manuals to perform installation, modification, organizational and/or intermediate level PMS checks, alignment, basic trouble analysis and corrective maintenance on various types of electronic equipment such as ground common radio equipment, digital wideband and multiband networking communications equipment, and related electronic devices and complete associated administrative documentation to restore equipment to optimum operating condition. Provides assistance to higher level technicians. Performs other tasks as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Complete the USMC Basic Electronics Course and the Ground Radio Repair Course, or other service equivalent. In lieu of military courses, an AA degree in electronics or equivalent certification from a technical/vocational school or FCC General Radio Telephone Operator License. Three years of directly related work experience. Demonstrate knowledge of basic concepts and the capacity to comprehend electronic theories and communication principles. Ability to follow detailed wiring diagrams, schematics, technical orders, technical manuals and manufacturer’s specifications and instructions using test equipment to adjust, repair, and maintain radio transmitters and receivers to include operating procedures, radio wave propagation, radio practice, electrical principles, circuit components, practical circuits, signals and emissions, and antennas and feed lines. Must be able to lift 50 pounds and able to obtain a tactical vehicle operator license as necessary, and comply with all accepted practices, established methods, safety standards, quality standards, and time schedules applicable to this position. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance and Base Access. U.S. Citizen.
