Job Description
The Michigan Civil Service Commission is looking for a motivated individual who is organized, has exemplary analytical and problem-solving skills, and is interested in working in a fast-paced Human Resources environment. This position will serve as a Human Resources Manager performing the full range of activities serving the Department of Corrections-Jackson Correctional Facility.
Ideal candidates will have:
A strong understanding of the labor relations field.
Ability to investigate, analyze, interpret, and apply policies, rules, regulations, and collective bargaining agreements.

This position will be in office during the training period. Once training is complete, the option of a hybrid work schedule is available for up to 50% of the work schedule per pay period.

Required Education and Experience
This position generally requires possession of a bachelor's degree in any major and four years of professional experience equivalent to a Human Resources Analyst. Specific information on the education and experience required for the position is in thejob specifications of the Human Resources Manager class. Vacation and Sick Leave:Eligible full-time employees receive between15 and 35 personal daysand13 sick daysper year that may be rolled over to the following year if not used. Eligible employees also receive an additional day each year for community service or school functions.
Paid Parental Leave:Eligible employees can take12 weeks of paid leaveimmediately after a birth or adoption to allow needed time together at home with a new child.
Paid Holidays:Eligible employees receive 13 or 14 paid holidays each year including New Year’s Eve and Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents’ Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, the Fourth of July, Labor Day, Election Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving Friday, Christmas Eve and Day.
Bonus Programs:Eligible employees with five years of service also receive annual longevity bonuses that grow as seniority increases. Some positions also may qualify for recruitment, retention, and performance bonuses or other special pay premiums.
Military Pay Differential:Employees in the guard or reserves may also qualify for supplemental pay benefits if miliary pay during qualifying duty is less than normal state pay.
