M/E Engineering Energy Manager in Ithaca, New York

M/E Engineering is currently interviewing for an Energy Manager to be based at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY.  We are a growing full-service MEP engineering firm providing design and technology services to our clients. Responsibilities

  • Responsible for developing, implementing, and analyzing data for a full campus temperature reduction test through building automation systems.

  • Documents hardware systems and performance in facilities on campus. 

  • Collects nameplate information and measures performance. 

  • Identifies measures, additional sensors, and information required to improve system efficiency and efficacy. 

  • Expands on the exiting Hot Water Readiness List by providing additional details and budget estimates to enable steam to hot water conversion. 

  • Details a process for right-sizing replacement equipment in the steam to hot water conversions. 

  • Identifies hot water conversion/improvement projects, resulting performance, and cost estimates.

  • Identifies chilled water delta-T projects, the resulting performance, and cost estimates.

  • Presents identified projects to the Director of Utilities Distribution & Energy Management (UD&EM) for approval and execution. 

  • Identifies, reviews, and analyzes electrification options for processing steam loads and domestic hot water loads on campus. 

  • Supports the Energy Conservation team with calculations and detailed investigations for projects.

  • Performs all other related functions as assigned.

                                  Education and Experience

  • Minimum bachelor's degree in engineering, energy management, or related field. An advanced degree in engineering or related field preferred.

  • Minimum of five years' experience in energy management, consulting, or mechanical design. Experience in a higher education or research institution preferred.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Building automation system and data analysis experience.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

  • Proven record of successful project management and execution.

    Compensation Range

  • The compensation range for this position is $85,000 to $115,000 per year.
