Cornell Health is nationally recognized for innovation and leadership, and is committed to an ongoing journey toward integrated, cost-effective, and community-based services and campus health initiatives.The Cornell Health Nursing & Clinical Support Services (NCSS) Department focuses on the health and wellbeing of Cornell's students in order for them to achieve academic, work, and life success. The department provides clinical support to the organization through nursing and clinical support services. Department members collaborate with colleagues across the organization to foster lifelong learning and wellbeing through innovative services and strategies that promote the mental, emotional, physical, and social health of individuals and our diverse campus community.

Certified Medical Assistants (CMA) provide support to students and clinical staff by preparing the patient for their appointment, assisting during the procedure or examination when required, and cleaning the exam room. In addition, this role performs a variety of clinical functions, including: instructing patients on how to collect specimens, performing wound care, performing ECGs, Spirometry, eye exams, hearing tests or point of care testing. Additionally, this position provides patients with instructions upon discharge on the use of any medical equipment and/or medications per clinician order. The CMA also assists with stocking exam rooms, and maintaining medical supplies and equipment on clinical floors, and is crucial to maintaining smooth clinic flow for Cornell Health.


There is one 12-month fixed-term position. Extension of the term appointment is contingent on business need, funding and performance. There is no visa sponsorship available for this position.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Certified Medical Assistant with two years of recent experience in an ambulatory care/clinic setting.
  • Experience working with an electronic health record management system.
  • CPR-BLS certification required within one year of employment.
  • Experience in and/or demonstrated commitment to supporting diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and wellbeing.
  • Ability to serve as an advocate for individuals of all ethnicities, genders, ages, and backgrounds.
  • Ability to cultivate and develop inclusive and equitable working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in an integrated ambulatory health care environment
  • Experience working in a college health or adolescent setting, or with a diverse patient population.
  • Proficiency in language(s) in addition to English.
