Ithaca College ASSOCIATE PROVOST - ACADEMIC PROGRAMS in Ithaca, New York

Job Summary:

Provide leadership in advancing undergraduate curricular and academic policy initiatives across the Division of Academic Affairs. Serve as the compliance officer for academic programs, with respect to state and federal regulations.

Supervision:

This position reports to the Provost. This position provides direction, guidance and supervision to the Registrar, Director of the Office of Access, Opportunity, and Achievement, the Academic Affairs Assessment and Accreditation Manager, the Director of the ICC, and Ithaca Seminar Coordinator and the office of the provost Academic Coordinator supporting curriculum and ICC programs.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Oversee academic program assessment and planning. Ensure the development and implementation of a meaningful program review process tied to student learning assessment procedures and accreditation expectations. Serve as a resource to departments and schools on guidelines and format for academic program review.

  • Serve as primary liaison between the office of the provost and the Academic Policies Committee; meet regularly with chairs of each subcommittee (the executive committee), ensure development and implementation of effective policies and procedures.

  • Oversee the college-wide curriculum development, review, and approval processes, in collaborate with academic deans, school and college-wide faculty committees, budget and finance, registrar’s office, and enrollment management.

  • Work in collaboration with the APC Assessment Subcommittee and the Academic Affairs Assessment and Accreditation Manager to maintain a program of student learning assessment that fulfills the expectations of accrediting bodies and advances student learning.

  • Provide leadership in coordinating the College’s Middle States accreditation processes; serve as liaison to Middle States and the New York State Department of Education.

  • Provide oversight of the Integrative Core Curriculum program, including the Ithaca Seminar; ensure sufficient course offerings and choices for each integrative core curriculum requirement and ongoing assessment of student learning in the program.

  • Serve as primary liaison between office of the provost, associate dean’s working group, and the Center for Student Success and Retention. Ensure processes and policies are implemented effectively and in alignment with institutional priorities. Oversee the summer course registration process for incoming students.

  • Provide oversight for the Office of the Registrar, ensuring appropriate administration of student records including degree evaluations, semester scheduling, credit hour policy implementation, data reporting, and FERPA protections.

  • Working in cooperation with the Registrar’s Office, oversee the accuracy and completeness of information published in the College’s undergraduate and graduate catalogs.

  • Provide oversight for the Office of Access, Opportunity, and Achievement; ensure appropriate administration of programs and services offered through this office.

  • Working in cooperation with the staff and faculty leading the College’s teacher education programs, ensure compliance with accreditors’ and NYSED’s regulatory expectations for teacher education and support continuous improvement.

  • Ensure budgetary responsibility for areas included in the portfolio.

  • Serve on various committees, task forces or other groups and coordinate special initiatives of the Provost and Senior Vice President as assigned.

  • Alongside the other associate provosts, this position may be asked to assume responsibility for oversight of the Division of Academic Affairs in the absence of the Provost and Senior Vice President.

Job Qualifications:

An earned terminal degree and extensive academic and administrative experience at the college or university level; experience with policy and curriculum development; extensive knowledge of best practices, current issues, and future trends in education; proven ability to provide leadership in a culture that values collegial decision-making; ability to work successfully with diverse individuals and groups and the ability to represent the College effectively with internal and external constituencies; excellent organizational, interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills are required.

Hiring Range:

$120,000 - $128,000, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
