Ithaca College ASSISTANT PROFESSOR - THEATRE PERFORMANCE in Ithaca, New York

Situated in the beautiful Finger Lake region of New York, the Ithaca College School of Music, Theatre, and Dance invites applications for a tenure eligible appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor of Theatre Performance to begin Fall 2025. Position Description:

The successful candidate will teach assigned classes at the undergraduate level in beginning to advanced levels of acting practice, acting for the camera, and audition techniques/career preparation. In addition, the successful applicant would have secondary areas of expertise in two or more of the following: integrated voice and movement, movement for actors, stage combat, voice and speech, voiceover work, and/or directing.

In addition to classroom teaching, opportunities may exist for the candidate to contribute as a stage director in the production season and/or as the annual B.F.A. senior showcase. Faculty participate in department life by auditioning prospective students, advising majors, and serving on committees in shared governance. Ongoing scholarly, creative, and professional activity will be expected and supported.

Qualifications:

A terminal degree in an appropriate or related discipline (such as an M.F.A. in acting, performance, or directing) and a record of professional activity in film and television performance is required. Demonstrable potential for successful college-level teaching within the context of an interdisciplinary and immersive liberal arts education is preferred.

Degree programs include four B.F.A. pre-professional programs (acting, musical theatre, stage management, and theatre production & design), a B.S. in theatre administration, a B.A. in theatre studies, and minors in Theater or Dance. The Center is consistently ranked among the top undergraduate programs in the nation by The Princeton Review and is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Theatre (NAST). Our robust production season includes plays, musicals, dance, and opera in three venues housed in the Dillingham Center for the Performing Arts.

Hiring Range:

$61,000 - $64,000, dependent on discipline, qualifications and experience.
