Wells Fargo is seeking a highly skilled Technology Principal Engineer to join our dynamic Merchant Services team within Consumer Technology and spearhead the design & development of our next-generation Merchant Services acquiring platform. In this role, you will:

  • Act as an advisor to leadership to develop or influence applications, network, information security, APIs, event processing, integration across payment gateways, cloud technologies for highly complex business and technical needs across multiple groups.

  • Lead the design, architecture, development & Integration of Merchant Payment Processing platform & the payment gateways ensuring they align with the company's strategic goals and user experience objectives.

  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, data scientists, and UX designers, to translate business requirements into technical specifications.

  • Drive technical innovation and stay abreast of emerging trends in payments, to enhance the product's capabilities and maintain a competitive edge.

  • Mentor and guide a team of talented engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous learning, and high-quality deliverables.

  • Conduct code reviews, identify areas for improvement, and enforce coding standards to ensure the highest level of software craftsmanship.

  • Oversee the deployment and monitoring of Merchant Service Payment platform, optimizing performance, reliability, and scalability.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand user feedback and iterate on product enhancements, ensuring the throughput and SLA requirements for payments.

  • Provide vision, direction, and expertise to leadership on implementing innovative and significant business solutions.

  • Strategically engage with all levels of professionals and managers across the enterprise and serve as an expert advisor to leadership.

Required Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, education.

  • 7+ years of proven experience in software development, with a focus on building payment gateways, payment processing or similar applications.

  • 5+ years of strong expertise in leading the design and build of fault tolerant and highly available payment platforms.

  • 5+ years of understanding of hybrid cloud technologies (Azure, Google), microservices architecture, and API integrations

Desired Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of Merchant Acquiring, payment gateways, PCI, payment Network integration and certification, Point of Sale (POS) configuration & device integration experience.

  • 5+ years of leadership and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and mentor junior engineers.

  • Demonstrated experience in Agile development, application design, software development, and testing.

  • Strong working experience with Java J2EE, Kafka, Azure components, third party integrations.

  • Strong understanding of Design Patterns, adaptive and responsive development techniques and Best Practices

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
