Job Summary
The Director of Business Development is responsible for leading a team of Business Development Manager(s) and their team(s) to create new business and grow existing business. This position will be responsible for development, sales, and overall maintenance of assigned territories via frequent face-to-face interactions and virtual engagement with both potential and existing customers. The Director of Business Development will work with the VP of Sales in growing the business through direct outreach. The Director of Business Development will be an expert relationship manager securing B2B business purchase agreements at scale with accounts within an assigned territory.
Responsibilities/Essential Functions
Execute UWorld sales initiatives.
Lead and motivate a sales team to exceed sales goals.
Maintain a high level of attention to detail managing all sales and budget activities (CRM usage, notes, follow-ups, emails, call logs, expense management).
Strategic planning for sales coverage that drives growth and increases UWorld business with assigned products and territories.
Ensure your team is conducting regular team meetings to drive consistent application of sales strategies, product and content updates, collaboration and share insights.
Maintain standards for sales call structure, skills and customer communication.
Meet as needed with the technical account management team to ensure implementation, quotes and sales closing process occurs as expected.
Manage a robust sales pipeline via multiple mediums to achieve sales targets (email, phone, trade show leads, and inbound website leads).
Oversee lead/prospect handling for new and existing leads.
Develop current team members and retain top talent.
Actively participate in recruiting new sales talent
Work in coordination with the sales and marketing team to communicate and document market insight, feedback, and customer takeaways.
Attend conferences and tradeshows to interact with B2B prospects.
Aid in securing target institutional purchases at scale.
Work in tandem with the Marketing team to maintain customer data and market insights.
Embrace and adapt to the changes associated with a fast-growing sales organization.
Maintain team accountability and responsibility by independently completing projects/assignments on time and adhering to UWorld standards.
Remains up to date on industry standards and business needs

Job Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in science, marketing, communications, business, or relevant field preferred.
8+ years of sales experience. Education Technology, SaaS or Publishing experience preferred.
Track record of success leading teams & sales goal achievement.
Knowledge of Industry standards & curious about future educational industry needs
Must be willing to travel overnight up to 50% of the time.
Experience speaking and presenting in front of large groups.
Excellent verbal and written communications skills; the ability to call, connect and interact with potential customers.
Aptitude for problem solving and the ability to determine solutions for customers using a consultative sales approach.
Demonstrated experience in planning, prioritizing, organizing and time management.
Ability to work with your team to achieve shared goals.
Goal oriented, focused, strategic, and actively engaged in assigned territory.
Proficient in MS Office or similar software/Working knowledge of IT and marketing software (e.g., CRM, SalesForce etc.)
