This position is responsible for directing, controlling, and coordinating all aspects of the calibration and preventative maintenance (PM) department. This position will also help support the facilities department and other cross-functional departments (when needed) by ensuring that their calibration, PM, and repair activities/requests are met in a timely basis.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and/or maintain an effective calibration & PM program (including calibration, PM, repair, modification and installation of equipment) to improve production efficiency and ensure optimum machine up-time availability

  • Review equipment requirements to ensure that all calibration and PM requirements are documented

  • Develop monthly schedules to ensure all the equipment maintenance requirements are met on a timely basis while minimizing overtime

  • Periodically review calibration and PM records to ensure accuracy and completeness of records

  • Continue to develop the current In-House calibration capabilities of the department to decrease the dependency of outside vendor Calibration services

  • Coordinate with vendors when outside calibration/repair is required

  • Develop and/or maintain an effective maintenance database

  • Proactively improve the group’s logistics/process functionality and strive for enhanced levels of efficiency

  • Work with Engineering staff to recommend equipment and to develop calibration/PM/repair work instructions/procedures

  • Perform investigations and drive non-conformances to closure (as needed).

  • Manage spare equipment and supplies storage

  • Manage a small group of technicians

  • Perform calibrations, PM, and repair tasks as needed

  • Develop ways to reduce costs for the department while maintaining a high level of quality and efficiency

  • Create and manage departmental budget.

  • Must have:

  • the ability to work independently with little supervision

  • effective written and verbal communications skills

  • the ability to work effectively with cross-functional groups

  • Be able to lift, push, pull, and move equipment and furniture up to 75 lbs. (as needed)

  • Potentially work in high elevation work areas (such as on ladders and roof level)

  • Maintain a Lean environment by utilizing 5S principles and techniques

  • Other tasks as required.

Qualifications

  • AA degree and a minimum of 7 years work experience in a regulated manufacturing environment preferred; Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, or Applied Sciences preferred

  • At least 2 years supervisory experience

  • Minimum of 2 years experience in equipment maintenance and repair

  • Experience or training in hazardous material emergency response is a plus

  • Experience with quality systems in a regulated industry a plus

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES

  • Basic understanding of general engineering terms and concepts

  • Proficiency with computers and basic use of the Windows operating system environment is required (proficient at MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.)

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

ADDITIONAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Work includes potential exposure to human bloodborne pathogens or other potentially infectious materials.

  • Work includes potential exposure to chemicals.

Pay / Compensation

The expected pre-tax pay rate for this position is $66,000 - $100,000

Actual pay may fluctuate outside of the listed range depending on skills, education, experience, job-related knowledge and location.
