This is an outstanding opportunity to join an early-stage product development group. Edwards Advanced Technology is passionate about developing solutions for patients suffering from structural heart disease. We are seeking talented and agile clinical professionals to join this fast-paced, dynamic team and play a central role in the development of new therapies and devices, from concept though early human-use and pivotal trials.
This role is based in Irvine, California.
How you’ll make an impact:
Analyze imaging and/or oversee third party image analysis for patient screening and contribute an opinion to the assessment of potential cases for early feasibility and clinical study candidates
Provide on-site echocardiographic support and guidance during clinical trial procedures performed on humans to ensure optimal imaging during the implantation of investigational transcatheter device
Lead and provide guidance to team members in the analysis, summary, and presentation of clinical baseline, procedural, and follow-up imaging (e.g., CT, echo, MRI, angiography) to provide inputs that support new product and procedure development and to support event investigations as needed
Provide intraprocedural echocardiographic support during animal or cadaveric studies for product and procedure testing or training activities
Lead collaborations with new product development team and HCPs to develop imaging patient selection criteria and screening protocol
Develop echocardiographic procedural training in collaboration with HCPs and deliver training to HCPs participating in clinical trial
Continually develop internal training on CT screening methodologies
Provide training, guidance, and development to team members
Act as a subject matter expert in echo and CT imaging matters
What you'll need (Required):
Bachelor's or advanced degree in biological or life sciences, animal science, or other related scientific or technical field or certification in RDCS (Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer), within ARSMS (American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography) or equivalent certification
Minimum of 5 years consistent and progressive professional experience in medical device research and development
Must have Class III implantable device experience
Understanding of clinical procedures, processes and systems
Excellent written, verbal, and communication skills. Experienced in analyzing and presenting data.
Ability to travel up to 30% within U.S.
What else we look for (Preferred):
Good computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Power Point, Excel)
Good imaging analysis software skills (e.g. 3Mensio, TomTec, Vitrea, Circle VI, etc.)
Able to effectively guide and instruct other imaging specialists in clinical settings on effective imaging equipment operation
Requires strong diplomacy, influencing and relationship management skills
Demonstrated problem-solving and critical thinking skills
Extensive knowledge of relevant imaging equipment operation (e.g. 2D or 3D TTE/TEE/ICE, CT, MRI, etc.)
Extensive knowledge and understanding of principles, theories, and concepts relevant to cardiovascular imaging
Knowledge of Good Clinical Practices
Strong attention to detail
Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
Must be able to work in a team environment, frequent inter-organizational collaboration including physicians and clinicians; Engineers and internal cross-functional team members
Medical device industry experience preferred

For California, the base pay range for this position is $106,000 to $149,000 (highly experienced).
