About the Role:

As a Rail Engineer V, you will play a crucial role in supporting the design and development of rail infrastructure. Your experience and leadership will be instrumental in ensuring the success of our rail projects, from concept through construction. You will work with clients, collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, and contribute to the delivery of high-quality rail solutions. You will independently apply techniques and procedures in accordance with established criteria to perform assigned tasks. This position performs routine technical work that requires previous experience.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • CAD Design: Utilize Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software to create detailed drawings, plans, and layouts for rail infrastructure and other related components.

  • Communication: Facilitate clear and consistent communication with internal teams and external clients, ensuring alignment and collaboration with all stakeholders to meet project objectives and maintain strong professional relationships.

  • Technical Expertise: Use senior-level technical expertise to consider a broad range of engineering solutions. Apply your knowledge of rail design principles to solve complex engineering challenges. This includes developing detailed plans, construction cost estimates, and project specifications.

  • Technical Support: Collaborate with rail engineers to provide technical support in the development of rail projects, ensuring design meets quality and client standards. Lead the project team in the completeness and accuracy of deliverables within the rail discipline. Collaborate closely with other teams on multi-disciplinary projects.

  • Data Analysis: Collect and analyze data relevant to rail projects.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with multi discipline teams, including engineers and project managers to ensure seamless project execution and compliance with design requirements.

  • Quality Assurance: Participate in quality assurance and quality control activities to ensure plans are technically compliant and meet client standards.

  • Mentorship: Mentor junior engineers and designers, providing guidance and support to achieve overall objectives on engineering projects to promote their professional growth.

  • Marketing: Assist in marketing responsibilities, including proposal development.

    Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Proficiency in CAD software (MicroStation, InRail) is required.

  • OpenRail experience is a plus.

  • Knowledge of rail industry regulations, codes, and standards.

  • Ability to design a rail project including plans, estimates, and specifications.

  • Ability to direct and lead engineers and designers to successfully deliver design related deliverables.

  • Attend project meetings and present specific aspects of engineering assignments.

  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

  • Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies and tools.

  • Engaged in life-long learning to maintain knowledge of contemporary issues.

Qualifications:

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an ABET/EAC accredited program.

  • 8+ years’ experience

    Preferred Education and Experience:

  • PE or ability to obtain.

Additional Information:

Offered rate of compensation (California locations only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $120,877 to $147,739.
