Responsibilities
The Position:
The Director of Data, Tools & AI position within the Digital Solutions Product Group will be responsible for driving our overall product data strategy for all business areas, overseeing our data tools and data product, as well as exploring the future applications of AI in the IFEC space and driving roadmaps to bring these ideas to reality.
While leading a team of dedicated Product Line Managers, the Director will drive overall data strategy for all Business Unit groups, collaborating closely with a wider team of Product Managers and engineering colleagues to ensure delivery and execution of this strategy within each of these areas.
AI has the power to transform operations, experience and commercial opportunities, and this position will drive forward use cases related to this field and identify key partners to advance PAC standing as an AI industry leader.
Data Strategy:
Define and implement a comprehensive data strategy that supports product innovation, enhances passenger experience, and optimizes business processes.
Work with stakeholders to establish data governance policies, ensuring data quality, security, and compliance.
Partner with engineering and data science teams to develop scalable data architectures and identify new data opportunities.
Product Requirements:
Collaborate closely with Product Managers and stakeholders to define and document clear, actionable product requirements that align with our business goals and market needs.
Ensure all product requirements are guided by the Pragmatic Framework, prioritizing features that drive user value and meet market demands.
Strategic Operational Oversight
A central authority with responsibility for management of a product line from initial launch to phase out, ensuring on-time delivery of products which meet company commitments.
Responsible for ensuring product implementation expectations are communicated throughout the company.
AI Strategy
Lead the requirements definition and execution of an AI strategy that enhances product functionality, enables personalized content, and leverages predictive analytics for operational efficiency.
Identify new opportunities for machine learning, natural language processing, and other AI solutions within the IFEC landscape.
Collaborate with data science and engineering teams to ensure AI initiatives are fully integrated into the product lifecycle and aligned with our strategic objectives.
Managerial
Establishes goals and objectives for team members.
Motivate staff to ensure long-term sales and profit goals and growth are met.
Participates in the development, modification and execution of Product Planning initiatives, process improvements and cross-functional teams.
Monitor team performance and deliverables, ensuring projects are completed on time, within scope, and aligned with the company's strategic priorities.
Collaborate with senior leadership to present findings, progress updates, and key recommendations.
The salary range of $157,000 – $263,000 is just one component of Panasonic’s total package. The final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to individual’s knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this role may be eligible for discretionary bonuses and incentives.
Qualifications
What we're looking for:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Business, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
10+ years of experience in data strategy, product management, or AI in a tech-driven environment, with a strong preference for experience in the in-flight entertainment or aviation sector.
Proven experience with the Pragmatic Framework and SAFe Agile methodologies.
Strong understanding of data governance, data security, and industry-specific compliance requirements.
5 years experience in the aerospace or related industry.
2 years personnel management experience.
4 years experience in the IFE industry preferred.
Exposure to IFE or avionics airplane installation projects, airline operations and/or electronics manufacturing preferred.
Highly developed ability to communicate and present ideas/issues effectively with and to executive management and below.
Adept ability to communicate, present and train on aspects of a product line to sales and marketing personnel.
Seasoned ability to participate and present in meetings with airline customers and airframe manufacturers.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as negotiation and presentation skills.
Seasoned and practiced in the leadership of cross-functional team meetings.
Ability to achieve results through influence and working through others.
Proficient with mainstream PC desktop applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, VISIO, Project).
Participates with other senior managers to establish strategic plans and objectives.
Works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires in-depth knowledge of the company.
Directs and controls activities of a broad functional area through several department managers within the company.
Ability for up to 15% travel domestic and internationally as required.

Paid time off: Exempt Salaried employees receive flexible paid time off. This means that there is no fixed number, range, or limit to the amount of Personal and Vacation Days that may be taken for exempt employees. Non-exempt hourly employees accrue 14 vacation days per year + 7 sick days + 3 personal days. Accrual rate increases with tenure. All employees receive 11 company paid holidays per year. We also close our offices at the corporate level in the U.S. between Christmas and New Year. For operational positions that are expected to work on holidays, we provide additional compensation for hours worked.
