Job Description

Plant Manager

IKO Bismarck is actively seeking a Plant Manager to join our Company and to help build a team of skilled professionals based at their Bismarck, MO location. The state of the art processing facility will be a key component of IKO’s North American operations, supplying raw materials to shingle plants as well as a number of their manufacturing sites. The Plant is slated for construction in 2024-2026 and is planned to have approximately 60 employees working multiple shifts.

Position Overview

The successful candidate is an experienced, hands-on and transformational leader who has strong leadership skills, a safety first mentality and is capable of establishing and sustaining a high performance culture. Having started up a multifaceted operation in the past, this person brings that understanding and knowledge to this role. Reporting to the Manufacturing Director, this position will be responsible for hiring and growing the site team, commissioning and starting up the Bismarck facility.

Once the facility is operational, the Plant Manager will direct and coordinate all manufacturing activities at the facility in order to meet and exceed operational goals and objectives in the areas of safety, employee relations, environmental compliance, customer service, product quality, cost and productivity. As a key part of the role, the Plant Manager will lead the development and implementation of operational criteria to measure the achievement of plant objectives and efficiencies.

Candidate Profile

Education

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or similar relevant combined education/work experience.

• Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification is an asset.

Experience

• Minimum 5 years’ Plant Manager experience, and 10+ years in manufacturing leadership.

• Experience in a heavy equipment and automated continuous manufacturing setting. Mining or rock experience is an asset but not required.

• Experience in leading the start-up and commissioning of a multi-process manufacturing site.

• Demonstrated experience in establishing strong team ownership, dynamics and effectiveness, equipment uptime, safety, maintenance processes and operating standards (quality etc.).

• A background in fostering and maintaining positive and productive employee and labour relations.

• Leadership and manufacturing management experience in continuous improvement activities, and driving quantifiable positive changes in safety, quality, service and productivity.

• Experience with implementing systematic approaches to delivering measurable and sustained results.

• Experience with process safety management and creating a culture where all accidents are preventable.

• Experience with maintenance management systems and proactive maintenance practices.

• Demonstrated track record of meeting deadlines, working independently, and practicing good organizational skills.

Demonstrated Competencies

• Highly developed leadership, change management, interpersonal, communication and people management skills to drive plant performance.

• Values such as integrity, agility, respect for others, teamwork and collaboration, accountability and performance.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• The ability to develop and coach managers and supervisors.

• A strong understanding of supply chain principles, production planning, scheduling, engineering, maintenance, management accounting, and project management.

• Strong PC & software skills in Microsoft Office applications.

• Lean Manufacturing, OEE, and Six Sigma expertise a definite asset.
