Marshfield Medical Center-Dickinson Pharmacy Technician in Iron Mountain, Michigan

The Marshfield Medical Center-Dickinson seeks a full-time Pharmacy Technician *to join their team in *Iron Mountain, Michigan. If you are detail minded and familiar with pharmacy protocol, consider this opportunity.

WHAT YOU WILL DO.

  • Use your knowledge of general chemical and physical properties of commonly used medications as they relate to storage requirements, cytotoxicity, flammability, basic diluents and solutions, principles of stability, basic calculations, and aseptic technique.
  • Understand and adhere to the "unit dose system of drug distribution".
  • Transport medications to and from nursing units, restock and exchange medication carts, and charge appropriate accounts.
  • Assist in maintaining drug stock inventory and supplies in pharmacy and throughout hospital; check expiration dates, proper storage, and accurate labeling.
  • Use pharmacy specific tools and automation (e.g. PCs).
  • Maintain pharmacy records (e.g. repackaging records, borrow/lend records, department charges, etc.) in pharmacy system.
  • Assist management with drug procurement and records maintenance (e.g. checking-in orders, price updates, charges, special orders, recalls, returns, outdated medications).

  • $15.28 -- $22.00 per hour starting pay based on experience.

  • Full-time position with shifts as assigned. Shifts are 8-10 hour with a start time of 8am, or as assigned. This position may occasionally include evening or weekend shifts.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR.

  • Licensed Pharmacy Technician in the State of Michigan required.
  • Completion of accredited one-year pharmacy tech program preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years' pharmacy technician experience (or directly related experience) preferred.
  • Knowledge of hospital pharmacy services including inventory control helpful.
  • Exceptional customer service and communication skills with a professional demeanor that ensures trust and competence amongst team members.
  • Proficiency with computers and basic office software (MS Word, Excel, Outlook) required.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to successfully pass a pre-hire drug screening and background check.
