Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage for this position is
$150,000 - $220,000

The Sr. Director - Philanthropy and Equity Initiatives will primarily be responsible for supporting Eli Lilly and Company Foundation (Lilly Foundation). The Lilly Foundation is a separate tax-exempt organization governed by Lilly Foundation’s Board of Directors. Eli Lilly and Company (Lilly) provides donations and operational support to Lilly Foundation.
The job responsibilities related to supporting Lilly Foundation include leading the evaluation of its overarching philanthropic strategy, and, specifically, the evolution of philanthropic equity initiatives. This includes ensuring that a strong measurement and monitoring plan appropriate for philanthropic support is established and the Lilly Foundation can continue delivering on philanthropic support of efforts focused on underserved communities. They will also work on establishing and supporting a communications strategy and plan for the Lilly Foundation and providing oversight related to Lilly Foundation’s philanthropic operations.

Responsibilities
Lead efforts by Lilly Foundation related to the evolution and refinement of its overarching philanthropic strategy
Establish an appropriate philanthropic measurement and reporting strategy/plan for Lilly Foundation and use this to help the Lilly Foundation effectively understand the philanthropic impact of its support for different programs
Provide oversight related to Lilly Foundation’s philanthropic operations, identifying and implementing approved opportunities for further efficiencies
Assess the current Lilly Foundation support of philanthropic equity initiatives and identify ways to meaningfully evolve its approach
Vet grant applications relating to equity relating to the Lilly Foundation’s philanthropic initiatives
Support Lilly Foundation President in Lilly Foundation Board meetings
Represent the Lilly Foundation externally and within Lilly (as appropriate and as authorized)
Serve as lead on the Lilly Foundation’s communication strategy and implementation plan
Support Eli Lilly and Company equity initiatives as appropriate
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree required
At least 5 years non-profit, equity related experience, or other relevant experience
Qualified applicants must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Lilly will not provide support for or sponsor work authorization and/or visas for this role.
Additional Skills/Preferences
Ability to develop and evolve bold strategies and to set measurable goals and objectives
Strong analytical skills; experience measuring, monitoring, and reporting the progress of initiatives
Solid understanding of equity issues for historically marginalized communities
Experience in grant-making and marketing/communications
Ability to effectively educate and influence at peer and higher leadership levels
Experience working in the Indianapolis community, including non-profit board leadership
Natural ability to form positive relationships with external collaborators
Experience managing teams, including external agency partners
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
