In this role, you will work within the Labcorp Clinical Trial Testing Solutions (CTTS) – Business Transformation (BT) team. The Project Manager (PM) routinely manages large, multifaceted, global projects under the supervision and guidance of management &/or a mentor. In this role, the PM will act as a central point of contact for internal and/or external Clients for BT. The individual is accountable for leading the Program/Project teams to ensure that Client requirements and deliverables are met. This involves end-to-end management of a program/project, encompassing effective management of communications and use of the appropriate tools to ensure the successful initiation, planning, execution, monitoring and completion of projects. In support of a program/project, a PM will assist with study costing and contract requests and is accountable for financial tracking and reconciliation of projects.

The PM will be required to utilize excellent communication skills to liaise and motivate internal and external program/project teams, and departmental management by presenting a vision and strategy for delivery, ensuring effective progress throughout the life cycle of a project. Excellent interpersonal skills are required as is the ability to negotiate with both internal and external stakeholders. The ability to identify specific program/project requirements and engage the appropriate subject matter experts / resource in accordance with the program/project milestones is a key aspect of this role.

The individual will identify and following approval, initiate the introduction of new processes within the BT and wider organization and contribute to development and delivery of internal projects within BT. The PM will participate in the review and resolution of project issues escalated within CTTS-BT.

The post holder will ensure adherence to the CTTS- BT Controlled documents and will be responsible for completion of all relevant documentation.

This role will be home based in the United States and will require ability to travel 10-15% of the time.

Initiation

  • Oversee and participate in the on-boarding process of new BT efforts.

  • Contribute to the generation of Project specific proposals, support of associated conference calls, focusing on large, multifaceted and global projects as assigned.

  • Where appropriate, request Confidentiality Agreements (CDAs). Ensure the documents are in place in a timely manner for the initiation of the project.

Planning

  • With support and guidance from management/mentor define program/project requirements fully and document using the appropriate project tools. Include any secondary objectives that may affect the planning or execution of the work. Ensure these are communicated to the project team.

  • During the planning of new projects liaise with appropriate internal organizations to coordinate the production of contracts, using the appropriate project tool, to ensure that these are in place in a timely manner. Track contract progress and review as appropriate.

  • Where necessary, with support and guidance from management/mentor, identify appropriate sub-contractors and liaise with QA to ensure their audit.

  • Using the appropriate tool, set up Gantt charts/study trackers for each Program/Project, ensure that they are maintained and the Project team, and all Stakeholders are provided with regular updates.

  • Selecting the appropriate program/project tool, prepare short or long communication plans as directed by the scope of the program/project. Circulate communication plans for all projects.

Execution

  • Conduct interim meetings to monitor and control program/project progression with respect to compliance with agreed schedules, scope change, and additional charges and implement any necessary actions. Provide early warning for potential slippages. With support and guidance from management/mentor escalate / Feedback to Departmental Management on identified issues.

  • Work across all operational sections of the division and other departments / sub-contractors associated with a specific project to achieve overall agreed upon milestones.

  • In line with the communication plan, set up conference calls and program/project meetings. Ensure minutes and actions are prepared, circulated and approved.

Monitoring and Controlling

  • Collect and collate identified CSF/KPIs for report out to management as directed by the BT organization. Escalate appropriately with support and guidance from management/mentor as defined by the framework. Participate in the review of escalated CSF/KPIs.

  • As appropriate for the program/project, maintain an issues log. Coordinate the solving of problems by defining issues, providing alternative solutions and ensuring decisions are made and disseminated to the team. With support and guidance from management/mentor escalate issues within the organisation as appropriate. Participate in / lead the resolution process for program/project specific issues.

  • With support and guidance from management/mentor identify the requirement for Program/Project governance and play a key role in its implementation. Participate in the Governance of programs/projects by providing detailed information and leading the process and associated meetings.

Closing

  • At the end of a program/project close out all project tracking tools.

  • As appropriate for the project, conduct lessons learned meetings with the project team (internal and / or external) / issue lessons learned reports. Analyse findings and disseminate to Management forums for all BT projects.

General

  • Employ effective general management and interpersonal skills to manage the relationship within project teams, executive sponsors and all identified stakeholders. This includes the need to motivate teams by presenting a vision and strategy for delivery and negotiating on behalf of all project team members to ensure service delivery and team satisfaction.

  • Maintain and improve the image of Labcorp by attendance, and participation at external meetings and conferences.

  • Gain a comprehensive understanding of the role and accountability of the BT organizations within Labcorp CTTS. Use this knowledge to influence these structures according to the needs of the program/project and organisation. Gain knowledge of the global Labcorp culture and the ability to connect and / or collaborate with other Labcorp sites and locations is required.

  • Identify the need for and following approval, initiate and implement process improvements within the BT PM organization and the wider organisation. Actively participate in the review of proposed and on-going process improvements within the BT organization.

  • Provide project specific information on planning and financial forecasting to the relevant business unit.

  • Support the issue of Controlled documents detailing specific procedures relevant to the BT PM organization.

  • Gain a comprehensive understanding of the processes involved in the production of protocols, SOPs, working documents, forms, reports, data evaluation and QA audits is required.

  • Perform other related duties as required.

What we’re looking for

Experience:

  • 5-10 years PM experience in a relevant field.

  • Computing skills, including word processing and use of spreadsheets (e.g. Microsoft Office packages and Microsoft Project).

  • An in-depth understanding of health, health & safety policies, and GxPs

  • Up-to-date knowledge of regulatory guidelines is desirable.

  • Effective and demonstrated communication skills for all levels of positions.

  • The ability to get things done by influencing others (both internal and external).

  • Knowledge of capabilities and expertise of the Labcorp organisation and companies that may provide support services.

  • Commercial awareness, interpersonal and negotiating skills.

  • Learn and maintain knowledge of process excellence processes, and activities.

Education:

  • University degree preferred.

  • 5-10 years of relevant Project Management experience

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) accreditation

Pay Range: $80,000 - $110,000
