Hanson Professional Services Inc. Senior Geospatial Project Manager, Vice President in Indianapolis, Indiana
Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Geospatial Project Manager with a proven track record of managing large-scale geospatial and GIS projects for transportation clients, specifically with state Departments of Transportation (DOT). While focused on Infrastructure, the candidate will also work across all Hanson markets to provide leadership and guidance with their customers which include aviation, railway, power, federal, and industrial clients. The ideal candidate will have expertise in geospatial data management, and will be adept at leading complex projects, guiding cross-functional teams, and engaging with stakeholders and clients at all levels.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage end-to-end geospatial and GIS projects for state DOTs and other clients, ensuring delivery on time and within scope and budget.
Collaborate with clients to understand requirements and customize solutions involving geospatial data and systems.
Oversee the development, integration, and deployment of GIS solutions and applications for transportation infrastructure projects.
Evaluation of business and operational processes related to asset management, maintenance and operations, safety, and capital programming. Development and implementation of business process improvement recommendations.
Coordinate cross-functional teams (technical, operations, engineering) to execute project plans.
Serve as the primary point of contact for stakeholders, ensuring alignment between client needs and project deliverables.
Manage project risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure smooth project execution.
Prepare and deliver project presentations, reports, and documentation to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Provide technical expertise in GIS, geospatial analytics, and systems as it relates to transportation.
Provide support for corporate innovation applications.
Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations related to transportation and geospatial data.
Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Geospatial Science, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
15+ years of experience in geospatial project management, with a strong emphasis on state DOT projects.
Extensive experience with GIS platforms (e.g., ESRI ArcGIS, QGIS) and geospatial data management.
Deep understanding of operational technology (OT) systems within the transportation sector.
Demonstrated success managing large-scale, multi-disciplinary geospatial projects for public sector clients, especially state DOTs.
Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to lead technical and non-technical teams.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
PMP, GISP, or similar certification is a plus.
Preferred Skills :
Familiarity with federal and state transportation regulations and standards (e.g., FHWA, AASHTO).
Experience with geospatial data integration into asset management platforms.
Proficiency in data visualization tools and techniques related to transportation infrastructure.
Experience with cloud-based geospatial platforms and tools within the Microsoft Azure and ESRI environments.
