About the Indiana School for the Deaf (ISD):

The Indiana School for the Deaf (ISD) is a fully accredited school for Deaf and hard-of-hearing students in nursery school through high school. The Indiana School for the Deaf is accredited by AdvancED Indiana and the Conference of Educational Administrators of Schools and Programs for the Deaf (CEASD). It provides services to approximately 342 students enrolled on campus. About 60% of the students live on campus during the academic year. ISD offers a full range of social activities, including sports, clubs, and organizations. 

Salary:

This position traditionally starts at an annual salary of $42,900. Salary for this position may be commensurate with education and job experience.

Role Overview:

The School-to-Work Specialist works with high school students to create and provide learning opportunities as outlined in their Individualized Education Plans (IEPs). Specifically, you will ensure that students are making progress toward their transition goals as outlined in their IEPs. This may include guiding students to work experiences, vocational research, college opportunities, and general post-high-school options. IEPs can begin as early as age 14 for our students. All services are provided in compliance with state and federal regulations and according to the Indiana School for the Deaf quality standards.

A Day in the Life:

The essential functions of this role are as follows:

  • Research and compile information on specific aspects of the program such as procedures, needs, and policies.

  • Answer customer questions about program policies and procedures.

  • Establish, organize, and maintain current and historical files related to the program.

  • Assist in the preparation of program reports, develop applications, prepare budget allocations, and/or purchase consultative services.

  • Maintain, monitor, and order program assets.

  • Assist the supervisor in the development and planning of the overall program and its role in the functioning of the agency.

  • Schedule, prepare, and disseminate all program-related training materials.

What You'll Need for Success:

You must meet the following requirements to be considered for employment:

  • Specialized knowledge of program area including pertinent rules and regulations.

  • Specialized knowledge of applicable legislation, guidelines, agency policy, and professional standards and practices.

  • Ability to research, analyze, and compile specific topics related to the program area.

  • Ability to communicate effectively.

  • Ability to operate effectively in a group decision-making process.

  • Tact in dealing with other agency personnel and the public.

  • Specialized knowledge of accounting and budgeting.

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

This role may be utilized in a supervisory capacity based on agency needs.
