Position Summary

Position is responsible for managing multiple MECA projects and communication programs within constraints of scope, quality, and time. Works in collaboration with other city and county departments, and outside agencies to ensure compliance with short and long-term operational and project-centered goals and objectives. Attends committee meetings as appropriate to hear and address public communication concerns. Work performed in this position has a significant impact on the public's perception of MECA and the city's programs, functions and ability to respond effectively to areas of public concern.

Position Responsibilities

Responsible for overseeing, facilitating, directing and coordinating designated personnel in the design and production of product consistent with the goals and objectives of the project; having regard to innovative solutions, value management, cost effectiveness, functional efficiency, and customer satisfaction.

Coordinates multi-agency communication deployment efforts.

Manages new projects/programs by determining desired attributes, scope of project, identified stakeholders, risk assessments, and contingency plans.

Be accessible to internal and external stakeholders to address new and/or ongoing concerns, questions, and feedback and determine/recommend appropriate course of action.

Acts as Liaison with project's sponsor and owner's representative or users on technological issues.

Assembles key players on project team. Manages work and resources involved. Collaboratively delegates responsibilities and task interfaces while establishing and updating plans with actuals and forecasts.

Ensures timely activity, integration, and productivity of technical support.

Responsible for planning and scoping proposed and/or accepted public communication initiatives; including, but not limited to, data collection, stakeholder

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree required in Business Administration, Management or related technical field from an accredited college or university, with a minimum of three (3) years experience in project management, or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities. Must maintain effective working relationships with a full range of city/county colleagues, community leaders and private contractors. Excellent speaking, writing, and listening skills are crucial, as is attention to detail. Experience using project management software. Must be able to perform multiple projects at once, often high profile, simultaneously while providing excellent feedback and follow through. Must have basic knowledge and understanding of law enforcement operations and information technology. Must be familiar with hierarchal organizations.

Independent Judgment

This position requires a high degree of initiative and independent judgment. Often, critical decisions will have to be made without the guidance or benefit of direct supervision. Regularly uses independent judgment when policies or procedures are not available. Seeks appropriate guidance from Director and Deputy Director.
