Product Cybersecurity Engineer

Job Description:

The Product Cybersecurity Engineer will provide key engineering skills & activities to realize Allison Transmission's security strategy for our products in vehicles & other customer systems. The tasks include technical analysis of risks (TARA), analysis of vulnerabilities, development of best practices, software designs, and processes which can be leveraged across the engineering organization. This role will supplement the existing team as the scope of on-road cybersecurity requirements, regulations, and OEM integration increases with newly launched products & regulations like R155. This role is entry-level, designed to support organization maturity & talent flow in the product cyber space.

Primary Responsibilities include

  • Collaborate with ATI cross functional development teams to refine and maintain security posture.

  • Work cross functionally to the development of ATI's security requirements, design and implementations.

  • Perform Cyber validations including PENetration testing on products to identify vulnerabilities, manage PEN testing from independent parties

  • Perform TARA (threat and risk assessments) and recommend mitigations to counteract the identified risks on products.

  • Understand new product technologies and maintain state-of-the-art expertise in product cybersecurity including attack surfaces, SBOM, vulnerability management, and secure coding practices.

  • Participate in the Auto-ISAC community and other professional industry groups to stays abreast of new attack vectors, threat ecosystem and industry cyber standards.

A successful Product Cybersecurity Engineer will demonstrate these characteristics:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with an ability to extract, translate and communicate meaningful information with management and peers

  • Demonstrated self-motivation with the ability to independently manage, prioritize multiple tasks, and identify and recommend areas for improvement.

  • Demonstrates an ability to manage multiple project deliverables on multiple projects effectively.

  • Demonstrates an ability to learn technical processes & tools

Qualifications

Required Education:

  • BS in Software, Computer, Electrical Engineering or Computer Science or equivalent experience

Preferred Education:

  • MS or PhD in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Computer Science

Required Experience:

  • 3-5 years of experience in Product Cybersecurity analysis, design, or test

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills – high level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others, motivate colleagues, and drive for results; ability to interface with customers on technical activities.

  • Demonstrate innovative and strategic thinking and initiative to take action in front of challenges

  • Demonstrated ability to learn new & evolving concepts in the technical space

  • Willingness to travel as required (< 10% of the time).

Preferred Experience:

  • Product or OT Security Experience, including ISO 21434 or R155/156 experience

  • Familiarity with vehicle CAN architectures and protocols

  • Familiarity with Automotive embedded systems

  • Familiarity with AUTOSAR and Linux architectures.

  • 5-10 years of experience in Product Cybersecurity analysis, design or test

  • Experience with embedded controls programming languages. Examples include C and C+
