Job Description:

V2X is seeking a Principal Systems Engineer to join our Engineering team in Indianapolis, IN supporting development and integration of advanced systems including situational awareness displays, mission computers, avionics, sensors, mission equipment, and radar systems. Our Indianapolis facility also supports a variety of other product lines serving multiple Department of Defense (DoD) customers providing the opportunity to work on a diverse set of programs and roles supporting the continued advancement of your career.

The Principal Systems Engineer provides technical leadership throughout the development life cycle, from concept development, requirements definition, functional analysis, design review support, system implementation, integration, verification, and validation. The Principal Systems Engineer will be a key leader within a cross-functional Integrated Product Team (IPT), where effective communication and team building skills are critical to success.

Required Skills:

  • Experience leading the development, integration, and test of military avionics systems or similarly complex systems.

  • Experience leading requirements development, hardware and software integration, and requirements verification.

  • Experience developing technical baselines (requirements/architecture); leading development teams; and developing and reviewing Engineering Change Requests.

  • Experience leading technical Analysis of Alternatives (AoA) and/or Trade Studies, performing Risk and Opportunity analyses, and tracking and mitigating risks.

  • Experience providing leadership, technical direction, and guidance to multi-discipline teams.

  • Strong communication skills and ability to effectively communicate to internal and external stakeholders including leading both internal and customer design reviews.

  • In-depth understanding of the System Engineering Lifecycle and processes.

  • Experience mentoring engineers of all grade levels.

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain an Active DoD Secret Clearance

Desired Skills:

  • Experience managing suppliers and overseeing the development of subsystems and components.

  • Knowledge and experience working with digital data standards such as: MIL-STD-1553, MIL-STD-1760, Universal Armament Interface (UAI), Radio Frequency (RF) communication, and ENET protocols.

  • Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering methods, tools, and languages.

  • Experience working with government customers including the US Army, US Navy, USMC and/or USAF.

  • Experience working the front end of the business, creating/reviewing RFPs, SOWs, BOEs, technical volumes, proposals, cost, and schedule estimates.

  • Project management experience including cost, schedule, supplier management, risk, and opportunity assessment.

  • Current Active DoD Secret or higher Clearance

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related STEM discipline plus:

  • At least eight years of related engineering experience in systems, software, or hardware engineering
