We are seeking an ambitious post-doctoral scientist with strong research and communication skills to join highly visible research projects in the Diabetes and Complications Therapeutic Area. Your work will contribute to the development of novel therapies addressing pancreatic islet dysfunction in diabetes. In this role, you will:

  • Carry out competitive and innovative research in the area of the pancreatic β-cell biology.

  • Advance molecular understanding of transcriptional regulation to control β-cell regenerative capacity and to preserve β-cell function and identity.

  • Characterize epigenetic and transcriptional regulatory networks in pancreatic β-cells that enhance cell regeneration and function.

  • Play a key role in the discovery of innovative approaches to target pancreatic β-cells through collaborative research programs with Lilly colleagues and academic investigators.

  • Identify important areas of need across preclinical diabetes target discovery and champion creative solutions to address those needs.

  • Maintain external awareness and contacts to benefit the organization.

  • Present findings at conferences and publish in high quality peer-reviewed journals.

Basic Qualifications

  • PhD in life science related field

Additional Skills/Preferences

If you are described with these skills, you could be a great fit for the role:

  • Extensive scientific background in the pancreatic islet and β-cell biology

  • Prior experience in the field of transcription factor biology and with genetically modified mouse models

  • Self-directed and highly motivated individual who wants to learn new techniques while continually pursuing research and publication goals.

  • Excellent communicator (oral and written) with presentation experience, along with a strong publication record.

  • Proficient in data analysis and reporting

  • Strong background in molecular biology and protein biochemistry and proficiency in mammalian cell culture

Additional Information

This position is not permanent. It is for a fixed duration of two years with potential to extend to 3 years. You will have opportunities to apply for full time positions after your duration is complete.
