Aerotek Low-Voltage Technician in Indianapolis, Indiana

The Low Voltage Technician could be responsible for resolving, repairing, and installing fiber optic systems, ensuring they work properly, and examining and replacing faulty and/or old fiber optic cables. Organizing scheduled maintenance routines. Taking care of fiber splicing and rectifying fiber optic problem areas. Installing and servicing security systems. These systems will consist of cameras, CCTV systems, entry access points, and electrical hardware. Resolving, repairing, and installing communications systems, ensuring they work properly. The systems the technician will mostly work with are security, cameras, entry access, audio and visual.

Below are some tasks the technicians will be responsible for:

• Run medium to small voice and data projects through completion.

• Organize material and labor.

• Testing of voice and data systems.

• Run cat 5/ Cat 6 cable.

• Install TVs.

• Install security systems.

• Install Cameras.

• Install access points.

• Light meter testing.

• Mount fiber boxes and associated hardware.

• Install conduit.

• Terminate/ Splice fiber.

• Pull fiber wire.

• Terminate ST, SC, and LC connectors.

• Light meter testing.

• Mount fiber boxes and associated hardware.

• Service/ troubleshoot cabling.

• Install Telephone lines.

• Chase dial tones.

• Program Telephones.

• Perform cross-connects.

• Install small key systems.

• Professionally interact with customers.

Work Environment:

• Indoor and Outdoor working environment, Hot in the Summers/Cold in the Winters, Physically Laborious

• Monday - Friday typical start time 7:00 am - 4:00 pm (They are customer dependent and can work around customers' schedules) having schedule flexibility is a must. 20% of work is on off shift.

• They do have an on-call team that rotates (volunteers cover 90% of the time emergency call work)

• If they travel out of town, they do receive $150 per night per diem (Hotel and food expenses)

Common Project Locations: Healthcare Facilities, Universities, Schools, Office Buildings, and Warehouse
