PACIV Instrumentation and Controls Engineer in Indianapolis, Indiana

PACIV, an international control systems integration and regulatory compliance engineering firm servicing Bio-Pharmaceutical, Medical Device, F&B, and Water/Wastewater clients, is looking for a full-time Instrument Engineer associate for our USA office (Indianapolis) to be assigned to our Instrument Services (ISP) team.

Our team manages the delivery of process instrumentation for capital project delivery to ensure the correct instrumentation is delivered to the construction team for installation.  This includes procurement, status reporting, warehousing, tagging, shipping/receiving, execution of commissioning documentation, and issue resolution with the client and suppliers.

Job Description:

This position will support the Manager of Instrumentation Services in executing project work for pharmaceutical clients to deliver the correct instrumentation on time to our clients.  Job duties are performed with a high degree of independence and personal initiative.  General work instructions and procedures are provided and govern many aspects of the position’s responsibilities; however, the candidate is responsible for understanding and prioritizing their workload.

Position Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

+ + Supervises and participates in receiving, unloading, and recording of process instrumentation.

  • Meets regularly with the Manager of Instrumentation Services to determine priorities and track instrumentation status.  May be requested to participate in client meetings.

  • Unloads unpacks, inspects, loads, moves, stores, and records materials' movements and storage locations within the facility.  If necessary, input information into the instrumentation database.  Loads and unloads instrumentation by hand or with a hand truck or motorized fork truck.

  • Aids in expediting the delivery of priority instrumentation.

  • Coordinates with administration staff and shipping agencies to plan routine and expedited shipments.

  • Executes commissioning documentation for process instrumentation by following Good Documentation Practices (GDP) and current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) fundamentals.

  • Compiles supporting documentation into turnover packages (warranty, data sheets, spare parts, material certifications, etc.).

  • Maintains instrumentation tag information and generates tags using computer-based tagging/labeling equipment.  Applies unique identification tags to each instrument.

  • Works with the Manager of Instrumentation Services and instrumentation vendors to resolve damage claims and issue resolutions with instrumentation as identified.  Aids in identifying a path forward and driving issues to resolution.

  • Determines appropriate transportation methods and coordinates pickup and delivery of instrumentation with trucking, courier services, and vendors.  Ensures proper packing of instrumentation packages and prepares bills of lading.

  • Participates in housekeeping to ensure a safe, clean, and organized work environment.

  • Supports the above tasks for multiple concurrent projects.

    Requirements:

    • A.S. or B.S. in engineering or technical discipline.
  • Comfortable working in a warehouse environment.

  • Works well with others within a team and takes accountability.

  • Can handle a high-pressure, high-stress work environment.

  • Team and goal-oriented.

  • Result-driven and self-motivated.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and presentation)

  • Organized with strong computer literacy such as MS Word, Project, Excel, etc.

  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.

  • Capable or willing to be trained to use hand trucks and drive a forklift.

    Desired Skill Sets :

    • Capable of supervising support staff to execute the above essential job functions.
  • Experience in the pharmaceutical or medical devices industry following FDA-mandated guidelines and regulations.

  • Familiarity with process instrumentation (level, flow, pressure, temperature instrumentation, manual and automated valves, and associated accessories).

  • Location:  Indianapolis, IN

  • Standard Day Shift ( 8 am – 5 pm or similar is expected)

  • Travel: Not expected, but up to 10% for training or visits to supplier sites.
