About the role

This role provides facilities engineering, maintenance, small project management, tactical facilities planning, and other facility/utility services that primarily support the Product Research and Development community.

Provide leadership and administrative management, including direct supervisory responsibilities for operations support (Engineers, Supervisors, Engineering Technicians, Planner Schedulers, Technicians, and contracted resources). Organizational responsible for a team of approximately 25 resources with an operational budget of approximately $5.0 million annually.

Responsible for managing the day to day operations of various facilities to ensure the operations, maintenance, and vendor management standards of the contract are met in a cost effective, safe, and efficient manner. Works in cooperation with customer’s local management and O&M service subcontractors. Ensures local facility operations align with approved CBRE and client standards, procedures, and guidelines.

Position specifically supports Clinical Trials (dry and parenteral), Formal Stability and Reference Standards, parenteral and dry pilot plants, and various development laboratories. Portions of these facilities fall under cGMP requirements, and this position will support critical facilities and systems specifically associated with cGMP operations.

What you'll do

Directly supervise O&M personnel which typically include Engineers, Maintenance Team Leaders and their staff, Maintenance Planner, and project coordinators (i.e. 15+ employees).

Maintains a proactive relationship with customer and understand business needs of local customer. Communicates those business needs to management.

Ensures that all facilities are operated and maintained in an efficient and safe condition in accordance with the approved budget. Reviews and approves expenditures for tools, equipment, supplies, materials, and additional contract requirements

Manages, directs and schedules day-to-day and long-range activities for assigned properties and ensures that the O&M staff are accurately following processes and procedures.

Manages and supervises facility personnel including hiring, promotions, recognition, and performance management. Plans, directs, and monitors the performance objectives of Operations and Maintenance personnel.

Monitors progress against performance metrics; tracking, analyzing, and reporting performance in terms of quality, safety, cost, and customer satisfactions. Drives corrective action to bring about required change and ensure contract requirements have been implemented.

Resolves problems and/or conflicts and maintains open communication with the client including providing regular two-way communications to ensure customer satisfaction. Manages subcontractor specifications, problems/issues, performance, and administration.

Provides technical expertise and guidance to O&M staff and manages resolution of complex problems. Provides the technical and management direction for all Facility Management services. Stays in sync with all company policies and procedures and adheres to company standards.

Other Requirements and Responsibilities: Must have good people skills to interact and communicate effectively to internal customers, external customers, share knowledge with technicians, and peers including process, building and design engineers, and planner. This position also requires knowledge and capability to monitor daily work activities with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) such as GMARS work order data base system, MS Outlook(email), calendar and network data base systems including word document process and spread sheet activities.

Shift Information: This position is for the dayshift. After hours/weekend support for building systems is required at times.

Physical Requirements: Must be able perform daily activities (inspections) that require extensive walking, the ability to work in high places, climb stairs and ladders up to and above 8 feet.

What you’ll need

Bachelors or equivalent experience in Engineering. Five-to-ten years’ experience in engineering, facilities maintenance, and/or utilities operations with demonstrated skills and abilities in team leadership required.

Experience in pharmaceutical facilities operations recommended

Manufacturing Quality System experience helpful (Deviation, Change Control, qualification, commissioning)
