The Role
As an Enterprise Field Technician II, you will have the opportunity to embark on a rewarding career by working closely with customers and collaborating with various business partners. You will be responsible for building and maintaining Lumen’s extensive network and infrastructure, addressing unique customer and network issues, and ensuring the protection of Lumen’s buried fiber assets. Your role will also involve building, testing, and delivering services and solutions to our customers, requiring a basic understanding of network equipment installation, circuit installation, and troubleshooting.
Additionally, you will be tasked with preventive and demand maintenance of the network and critical infrastructure. Effective materials management and proficient use of company systems and applications will be essential to your success. As a key player in our team, you will contribute to the seamless operation and reliability of our network, thereby enhancing customer satisfaction and supporting Lumen's mission to deliver exceptional connectivity solutions.
Location and Schedule
You must reside in the greater Indianapolis IN metro area for consideration.
This position is a work from work position.
Normal work hours are 8:00 am – 5:00 pm with lunch break.
Execution of the role will require some after-hours support and on-call and overtime responsibilities.
The Main Responsibilities
Perform network/customer equipment installations, provision and test circuits, maintain optical and electrical services.
Troubleshoot network/customer premise equipment, remove and replace defective modules, tracks spares and ensure repair of defective equipment.
Protect Lumen’s buried fiber cable assets. Monitor, collaborate, and identify fiber routes and perform fiber locates on outside plant fiber.
Actively participate and collaborate in the restoration of inside and outside plant services to ensure the integrity of Lumen’s network.
Perform basic AC and DC power installation and maintenance of equipment. (experience preferred but not required)
Record keeping: Updating redlines design of circuits, status updates and progress of new installations, maintenance, and trouble ticket reporting.
Perform preventive and scheduled maintenance inspections on power, HVAC equipment, and critical infrastructure.
Asset management: Includes electronic equipment, test equipment, and tools. Process deliveries and replenish consumables, as well as coordinate shipping and receiving of materials. Maintain tools, test sets, and electronic equipment.
What We Look For in a Candidate
Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate must be flexible and hardworking with a strong focus on customer service
On-call 24x7 on a rotational basis, on stand-by, call out, dispatch, and overtime are required as dictated by the business.
2+ years’ experience working of Installation, test, and turn-up of a variety of telecommunication equipment including SONET, DCS, DWDM, Routers and Switches.
Possess a deep cultural awareness and be willing to learn and adapt in a dynamic environment.
Be career oriented, demonstrate a commitment to personal and professional growth while contributing positively to the organization's success.
Attention to detail with good organizational capabilities with good time management skills and the ability to prioritize workload
A valid driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record is required.
High School diploma or GED

The starting salary for this role differs based on the employee's primary work location. Employees typically do not start at the top of the range, though compensation depends on each individual's qualifications.
