Job Description

The Enterprise cloud architect role is the most senior customer-facing architecture role within North America Cloud Engineering and is critical to the relationship between the customer and Oracle. As a Pre-Sales Enterprise Cloud Architect, you will play a crucial role in our sales process by working closely with the sales team, customers, and technical teams to craft and propose cloud-based solutions tailored to our clients' needs. You will use your deep technical expertise and excellent interpersonal skills to influence and guide customers on their cloud journey. The Enterprise cloud architect provides leadership within Oracle across the various cloud pillar teams to ensure that Oracle’s value offerings to the customer are feasible, consistent, effective and aligned to the customer need. As an Enterprise Cloud Architect (ECA), you will be responsible as the expert for formulating and leading presales technical and functional support activity to prospective clients and customers while ensuring customer happiness, including:

  • Acting as a technical resource and mentor for less experienced Enterprise Architects.

  • Focusing on large or sophisticated sales opportunities that need creative and sophisticated solutions.

  • Developing productivity tools and training for other Enterprise Architects.

  • Developing and delivering outstanding Oracle presentations and demonstrations.

  • Leading all aspects of the technical sales process.

  • Advising internal and external clients on overall architect solutions.

  • Act as a trusted advisor to customers, building positive relationships and ensuring customer happiness.

  • Collaborate with the sales team to understand customer requirements and propose suitable Oracle cloud solutions.

  • Conduct technical discovery sessions with clients to gather detailed business and technical requirements.

  • Design and architect comprehensive cloud solutions that meet customer needs and align with industry standard processes.

  • Present and demonstrate Oracle cloud solutions to customers, showcasing the value and benefits of our offerings.

  • Build and deliver technical proposals, presentations, and solution documentation.

  • Work closely with Oracle product management and engineering teams to stay updated on the latest cloud technologies and Oracle cloud solution features.

  • Provide technical mentorship and support to customers during the sales cycle, including proof of concepts (POCs) and pilot projects.

  • Stay informed about industry trends, competitive landscape, and new technologies to provide strategic insights to the sales team and customers.

  • Design and deliver enterprise cloud architecture and clearly articulate business value - vision, capability models and assessments, and technical cloud solution architecture - current and future state, solution standard processes, migration strategies, and operational excellence frameworks.

  • Lead multi-functional teams of Oracle domain experts to help customers design, plan, implement, and govern enterprise cloud architecture and solutions on time.

Job Qualifications

  • Have at least 10+ years of technology and proven experience and 5+ years selling technology and cloud-based services.

  • 4+ years of working experience with modern Cloud Platforms - Oracle Cloud, AWS, Azure, or GCP.

  • Proven experience as a Cloud Architect or in a similar customer-facing role like pre-sales solution architect role, with a focus on enterprise cloud solutions.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think strategically about business and technical challenges.

  • Deep understanding of cloud computing concepts, architectures, and technologies (e.g., Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).

  • Have worked with the enterprise customers in a cloud technologist role to successfully build customer-specific cloud vision, architectures, and adoption strategies.

  • Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate sophisticated technical concepts to non-technical partners.

  • Versed in enterprise architecture and technology and ability to clearly articulate business architecture (vision, capability models, capability assessments) and technical architecture (current and future state capabilities, strategic roadmaps, solution standard processes, reference architectures, design patterns).

  • Experience with Oracle technologies like Oracle Database, Exadata, Oracle cloud platform services (Integration, security, analytics) and the enterprise applications like Oracle E-Business, Peoplesoft, JDE, and Non-Oracle applications like SAP and other ERPs are preferred.

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree or equivalent experience in computer science, information systems, or equivalent. Advanced degree or equivalent experience preferred.

  • Relevant cloud certifications (e.g., OCI Architect Professional Certification, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect) are helpful.

Responsibilities

Responsible for engaging with strategic and more complex customers, builds leadership relationships at multiple levels within organizations in order to design and implement solutions. Works directly with customers to gather requirements, develop architectures and translates business needs into solutions. May implement solutions and ensure successful deployments through code development and scripting. Displays product/application understanding through highly customized presentation demonstrations to customers and at conferences and events. Supports customer from Proof of Concept (POC) through production deployment of services via resource configuration, planning, and customer education/training. Creates and distributes technical assets (white papers, solution code, blog posts, and video demonstrations). Provides leadership and expertise in the development of new solutions, products, and processes. Maintains expertise by staying current on emerging technologies. Acts as an acknowledged authority for customers and sales on technical cloud solutions and customer success. Viewed by peers as a leader and top contributor and by line management as a key business partner. Identifies gaps and enhancements to influence engineering roadmaps for customer driven features. Maintains expertise by staying current on emerging technologies.

Range and benefit information provided in this posting are specific to the stated locations only

US: Hiring Range: from $137,900 to $232,300 per annum. May be eligible for equity and compensation deferral. Eligible for commission with an estimated pay mix of 70/30.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle’s differing products, industries and lines of business.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
