Logistics Development Program, Emerging Talent

Primary Purpose:

The Emerging Talent Programs at Heritage Environmental Services are designed to train and develop high potential candidates and provide opportunities to accelerate your career growth and gain direct, hands-on experience. Working alongside managers and leaders, exposure to high level projects, and individualized mentorship provides a unique experience for all participates.

The Logistics Development Program is a 2-year program that explores all areas of Heritage Transport and our Strategic Projects Group. This program includes insights into Department of Transportation (DOT) Regulations, dispatch, scheduling, analytics, and more.

Essential Functions & Requirements:

  • Ensures Health & Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and acting in a safe manner at all times

  • Develop an understanding of how the company works and build relationships with Emerging Talent Program Representatives through regularly scheduled meetings, annual training workshops, and mentor programs.

  • Network with professionals from various disciplines across the organization to enhance teamwork, collaboration, communication, problem solving, and strategic thinking skills.

  • Maintain awareness of all Company policies, guidelines, and procedures to ensure compliance.

  • Develop an understanding of the Department or Transportation (DOT) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations (CFR 49 and 40) and application of such to business operations; Develop an understanding of Driver Qualification (DQ) specifics, Driver Hours of Service (HOS) rules, and Electronic Logging Device (ELD) technology to maintain compliance and maximize asset utilization.

  • Develop proficiency in software systems implemented by the Company to manage transportation activities; assist dispatch and scheduling with order requests by identifying Company assets (drivers/equipment) for routes to service customers in safe, compliant, and efficient manner.

  • Coordinate transportation activities between service centers to maximize Company assets.

  • Assist with analyses and support of a Business Unit's performance. This may include tracking key performance indicators for safety, environmental compliance, quality and productivity as well as provide assistance on team projects to drive improvement; work with employees of all levels to develop new Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's).

  • Work with key internal and external stakeholders to ensure good quality and continued customer relations; support Company leadership in daily operations management; ability to effectively communicate and help bring resolution to improvement opportunities.

  • Participate in Lean Six Sigma Excellence initiatives.

  • Ability to travel up to 25%.

    Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, or related field (required)

  • Minimum 3.0 GPA (required)

  • High performing recent graduate or expectation to graduate by start date OR qualifying education must have been obtained within the past 2 years of the start date.

    Experience:

  • Prior relevant internship, co-op, or practical experience (required)

  • Demonstrated leadership ability and initiative such as a school club officer, sports team captain, resident advisor, etc or exceptional leadership on work projects (required)

    Competencies:

  • Strong teamwork, networking, written, and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact effectively at all levels of the organization.

  • Creative problem-solving and critical thinking skills

  • Organizational and time management skills.
