OVERVIEW
As the Payer/PBM Product – Drug End-to-End Management Lead ( Technology Product Management Associate Director) at Wolters Kluwer, you will play a pivotal role in driving innovation into our products, solutions, and processes. The Clinical Effectiveness Payer Product team sets the strategic product direction for all Payer products, and the Payer/PBM Product – Drug End-to-End Management Lead is a key product leader in the Payer product portfolio and development.
You will act as an entrepreneur and a product consultant within Wolters Kluwer Health’s Clinical Effectiveness unit. They will partner with Product Owners and in partnership, take ownership of new Product ideas, drive the concept definition and requirements, and then champion the build and delivery of new expert solutions for Payers with the respective Product owners and teams. You will be responsible for contributing to the planning, execution, and delivery of a product which solves problems and delights customers.
You are the “Voice of the Customer” and work backwards from a deep understanding of customers’ problems. They drive effective product discussions and distill clear requirements from large and diverse sets of customers, vendors, engineering team builders, and Wolters Kluwer internal partners. They are data driven and familiar with a wide array of analytical techniques. You will perform or commission market research, usability studies, and create focus groups to identify best of breed benchmarks and solve customer problems.
This is an individual contributor role reporting to the Technology Product Director for UpToDate in our Health division.
DUTIES
Define product strategy for Payer/PBM Product – Drug End-to-End Management: Help define the future of services, enabling faster product delivery, helping Payer/PBM Product – Drug End-to-End Management professionals spend less time in administrative tasks and more time helping them improve the drug management of their plans, benefit designs, analytics, formularies, etc. To do this, you will identify opportunities, risks, and revenue potential, and create Payer strategic product roadmaps to advance and expand Payer product market attractiveness and revenues in a given focus area, e.g. drug management content and services, drug decisioning and end-to-end management content and services.
Develop Payer/PBM Drug Management product concepts and strategic product roadmaps: Identify product gaps and generate new ideas with respect to focus area; identify customer needs, pain points, use cases, trends, and related services to help build a roadmap of studies to evaluate and improve customer experience, improve market share, and drive growth. Translate product vision and strategy into detailed requirement documents and prototypes.
Champion Payer/PBM Drug Management product market fit and understanding: Gain deep understanding of Payer customer experience, business needs, and existing internal and/or competitive products relevant to the domain. Stay connected to customer trends, needs, and pain points in healthcare. Collaborate with client and prospect researchers to deliver customer insights that identify and drive customer experience improvements.
Initiate product lifecycles : In partnership with internal product owners and/or external partnerships, design and build proof of concept experiments based on common customer use cases to evaluate the end-to-end customer experience. Champion the full product development lifecycle, including scoping, design, data collection and analysis, and present a comprehensive written business case insights and recommendations to senior leaders and product owners to drive improvements and functionality.
Product delivery & execution : Responsible for working with different stakeholders across product, engineering, product marketing and research, clinical content and editorial teams, and legal, pricing, and corporate marketing to champion the product from ideation to production, as well as optimize product performance in the Payer market. A key area to collaborate with will also be the different sales teams, in the US and/or globally as appropriate.
Collaborate with stakeholders: Work with internal stakeholders (e.g., research, clinical, marketing, software development engineers) to execute studies and work cross-functionally with peers/colleagues globally to support training, best practices, and shared opportunities.
Manage ambiguity: Able to work in a matrixed environment. Independently take steps necessary to understand complex businesses, customer needs, and technologies and across a variety of customer personas and product categories to define the product.
Data driven decisions: Business analysis, including financial and data modeling, initial pricing/cost modeling at all levels – market segment analysis, product business case, sales forecasting, etc., including continuous evaluation of metrics to ensure all activities are in line with overall product strategy.
QUALIFICATION
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience.
Master’s degree or Doctorate in a Business, Healthcare, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics field or equivalent practical experience.
Pharmacist (PharmD) highly preferred, especially if you worked in managed care pharmacy for a payer with product development experience.
Required:
Understanding of Payer/PBM (pharmacy benefit manager) needs in drug management, pharmacy-medical cross-management, managed care pharmacy, and medical drug management, including specific needs for VBC, financing of high-cost therapies, payer-provider incentives, etc.
Supporting health plan and PRM drug management efforts in partnership with clinicians, including but not limited to traditional drugs, specialty/biosimilar drugs, and emerging therapies such as cell and gene therapies
5+ years of United States Payer or health plan or PBM experience, including drug management experience – may include strategic project/program development experience B2B2C experience
5+ years of working backwards from the customer problem or opportunity identify customer needs, pain points, use cases, trends, and related services to help build a product roadmap
5+ years of New Product Development experience with managing successful product definition, product execution, market analysis, business case development, prototyping, launch, go-to-market strategy, and post-launch roadmap
Ability to straddle the line between high-level strategy and hands-on execution
Success in new product development - developing a product concept, associated business case, securing funding for concept, developing and launching product
Understanding of product and business strategy, including best practices for Payer new product development
A motivated team-player able to innovative and create solutions for their assigned segment market.
Understand and differentiate needs between Payers, PBMs, accountable care organizations (ACOs), TPAs, and other risk-bearing entities and mechanisms.
Capable of communicating both strategic product and technical topics and capability of generating both internal and external buy-in around new product concepts, forward-thinking solutions, and creating and driving momentum of new product development and launches.
Experience with end-to-end product delivery, including feature delivery and tradeoffs (prioritization) and contributing to engineering & technology strategy discussions.
Experience working with cross-functional teams (e.g., research, engineering, UI/UX, Program Management, etc.) with global teams.
Preferred:
7+ years of Payer product or strategic project/program development and planning experience highly preferred.
Experience working within United States Payer and United States State/Fed government experience or non-US Payer/health plan/government (vs. working for a vendor providing products/services to payers).
Ability to develop new concepts in partnership with clinical personnel.
Ability to develop concepts at scale, including concepts with data modeling and/or predictive or cognitive analytics.
Experience dealing with ambiguous complex products and technologies. Ability to independently take steps to define customer use cases across a variety of customer personas and product categories to produce meaningful insights.
Experience in product management in technology, such as payer technology, cloud computing, data science, advanced analytics, and applied machine learning.

Compensation:
Target salary range CA, CT, CO, DC, HI, IL, MD, MN, NY, RI, WA: $183,700 - $260,050
