Position Summary:
The In Vivo Biologist is responsible for supporting multiple animal studies including but not limited to in-vivo animal handling skills and dosing as well as conducting experiments. Data collection and analyzing results.
Schedule:
Typically, Monday through Friday, forty hours per week, 8am-5pm. However, must be flexible to meet the needs of the department and complete other projects as assigned.
What You’ll Do:
Support multiple in vivo animal studies
Perform acute and chronic in vivo studies including mouse and rat handling, blood and tissue collection, measurement of bloodÂbased biomarkers, body weight and food intake as well as test article formulation and administration by oral gavage, intraperitoneal, and subcutaneous injection
Assessment of body weight, food intake, clinical chemistries (e.g. glucose), body composition analysis, and other parameters of metabolism
Demonstrate exceptional ability to work with fellow lab/team members to schedule, coordinate, and execute high-quality in vivo studies
Communicate with senior pharmacologist and other lab/team members regarding study activity, scheduling, and/or findings
Independently conduct experiments using chemical and biological hazards
Requirement for accurate record keeping, independent data analysis, and reporting of data in written and oral formats. Will perform work in full compliance with company Research Policies, and complete all required training activities in the timeframe specified
Analyze data, graphically representing data and statistically analyzing data
Record data in notebook, presenting in laboratory/project meetings
Demonstrates aseptic procedures
Other duties as defined by Manager, department needs and workload.

The position is governed by regulations including OSHA, AAALAC, OLAW and NRC - compliance to all applicable regulations is mandatory

Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in related scientific field
Minimum of one (1) year of experience with animal handling and dosing experience
Minimum of Choose an item. experience with the following:
developing Animal behavior video monitoring, data collection, data analysis and data presentation
setting up and running biochemical assays, evaluating ex vivo primary tissue assays
conducting cell culture, and conducting protein analysis and transcription profiling
in diabetes and/or metabolic diseases
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted in lieu of above.
